Frig will cool but not stay cold

Check the condensing coil under the back side of the refrigerator. If the condensing coil gets dirty, the refrigerant does not condense at the proper temperature and carries unshed heat with it back to the evaporator. This excess heat reduces the ability of the refrigerant to cool because it did not lose the correct amount in the condenser. The condensing coil and it associated fan is located behind the cardboard cover on back side of the refrigerator.
The condensing coil should be cleaned at least yearly. People with pets such as shedding cats and dogs may have to clean it more often.
On your temperature control, a setting of 5 for both freezer and fresh foods section is the normal value.
Another thing to check is the air flow blockage in the freezer for the evaporator and product stored there. If the fan inside of the evaporator can not circulate air then improper cooling will occur. Make sure there is space between shelves and between product so air can circulate.

Hope this helps

The freezer and the refrigerator (Side by side) are not cooling properly. This occurred after the freezer was completely frosted over. I cleaned it out and it is starting to frost over again and not...

Check the freezer fan to ensure it is operating. If it is and there is at least air movement, maybe cool, but not cold, first thing to check is the condenser coil located either at the rear bottom or front bottom. Make sure it is clean. Dust/dirt can clog the condenser preventing the unit from rejecting the heat. Same as with your central a/c. If the condenser gets dirty/plugged, your a/c will stop cooling. Other possiblity is the compressor is not operating. You should be able to hear it operating, will sound like a low hum with slight vibration. In the event the compressor is not operating, unplug the refrigerator, gently place your hand on the compressor, (it will be found in the rear bottom) to determine if it is warm, hot, etc. If it is hot, leave the refrigerator unplugged for 10-12 hours to cool. There is a thermal overload within the compressor to shut it down in the event of overheating. While the refrigerator is unplugged to cool, make sure the condenser is clean.
Let me know if you need further assistance
Thanks
Kevin.

Freezer to cold refrigerator not cold enough

sounds like your defrost timer is not working properly . Most fridge/freezers the fridge gets cooled from the cool air from the freezer . But when the defrost timer is not working properly the section between the fridge and freezer freezes up and hence doesnt allow the flow of cool air into the fridge. The defrost timer can be easily replaced.

Auot defrost problem?

cleaning the condensor is nothing to do with evaporator freezing up. keep an eye on it - you may have a problem with the defrost cycle. problem can also happen if freezer door has been left open
