I replaced my Bissell vacuum cleaner belt with a Bissell belt. I ordered it from them so I know it's the right one. I replaced it and the roller won't spin and the belt smells like it burning.

You will need to unplug the vacuum from the wall, lay it down so you can see the bottom of the vacuum head and remove the bottom plate (foot plate) Probably philllips head screws. pull up on the roller (called the beater bar). The beater bar will come straight up. Disconnect the belt and check the fittings at the ends of the beater bar... I'll bet that they don't spin easily (The fittings have roller bearings in them, and the roller bearings get gunked up with hair, carpet fibers and dirt). Pull the end fittings off of the roller and remove all of the hair and carpet fibers off of the end of the beater bar and the fittings and out of the bearings. Check to make sure that the roller bearings spin freely. If they do not spin freely, put some rubbing alcohol in the bearing (you can pour it onto the bearing and spin the bearing manually until it spins freely, or you can use a spray bottle with alcohol in it as I do. Once the bearing spin freely, dry them out so no alcohol remains in the bearing, then a drop or two of light machine oil (3 in 1 oil will do) in each bearing and spin the bearing again to distribute the oil. Now would be a good time to check for any clogs in the vacuum head where the hose connects, and check the hose for clogs. Reassemble the beater bar and reinstall it in the vacuum with a new belt, reinstall the foot plate.

Your machine should run like new.

I'm haveing trouble installing throw out bearing on my 1990 ford ranger just got done installing my second throw out bearing and I'm still having the same problem clutch pedal does not engage


There should have been a clip to secure the bearing on the fork shaft. Was it secure??
Clutch may not engage if clutch master cylinder or clutch slave have not been properly bled. There is no adjustment on hydraulic systems. Bleed again if necessary.

Lid Switch Assembly If the washer won't spin the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and transmission. Another common problem is the lid switch.

Drive Belt If the washer won't spin, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin properly.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer spin the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.
Motor Control Board If the washer won't spin the motor control board might be defective. The motor control board provides power to the motor as well as direction and force. If the motor control board is defective the washer may not work at all or function properly.

Drive Block If the washer won't spin the drive block might be worn out or may have come loose. Underneath the agitator the drive block connects the inner tub (the one that spins around) to the transmission. If the drive block wears out the transmission shaft will still spin but the tub may not - or it may spin slowly. This also usually causes a lot of noise. The drive block is relatively easy to replace.

Clutch Assembly If the washer won't spin, the clutch assembly might be worn out. The clutch assembly makes the connection between the transmission and the inner tub. It is designed to allow the tub to get up to the proper spin speed gradually. As the clutch wears out it may prevent the tub from spinning. The clutch is not repairable, if it is loud or not working properly it will need to be replaced.

Clutch Band kit If the washer won't spin, the clutch band kit might be worn out. The clutch makes the connection between the transmission and the inner tub. It is designed to allow the tub to get up to the proper spin speed gradually. As the clutch wears out it may prevent the tub from spinning. If the washer won't spin, this clutch band kit may need to be replaced.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged It will have to be replaced.

Tub Bearing If the washer won't spin the tub bearing might have seized. This is a common problem and relatively easy to replace.

Tub Seal and Bearing Kit If the washer won't spin the tub seal and bearing might have seized. This is a common problem and relatively easy to replace.

Bearing If the washer won't spin the bearing might have seized. This is not common. The bearing doesn't require any normal maintenance. They generally go bad when the tub seal fails and allows water to leak past into the bearing.
Basket Drive If the washer won't spin the basket drive clutch might be worn out. The basket drive sits on top of the transmission and engages with the inner tub. If the basket drive wears out the tub won't spin.

Basket Drive Hub Kit If the washer won't spin the basket drive hub might be worn out. The hub is a set of plastic gears underneath the agitator. The basket drive hub kit is easy to replace with standard hand tools.
Transmission If the washer won't spin the transmission might be worn out or defective. There are numerous more likely causes when a washer won't spin, which should be checked first.

I remove the seals on bearings, install a grease fitting in housing.
Your bearings are preloaded. After installing bearings, turn shaft
upside and hit shaft lightly to unload bearings.

How to remove armature in makita 5806B


Removed the three screws to release the motor housing from the blade housing. If the the armature stays in the motor case then try tapping the edge of the open end of the housing with a soft mallet. If it still won't move hole the end of the armature in a vice using SOFT JAWS and then tap the edge of the housing to remove the motor case.

It might be that the rear bearing has siezed in the housing.

Why won't my sprinkler turn. The water comes out fine, but it won't rotate. Mine is a plastic model, and I can't figure out how to get inside.


1) Use a 5/16 nut driver (or flat screwdriver) and remove 5 screws holding body to motor assembly.
2) Use pliers to hold the worm bearing assembly where the tee screws in. Hold worm bearing and remove tee.
3) Use a 3/8 inch allen wrench to remove the worm bearing assembly. The allen wrench is placed in the same hole where the tee was located. (Removing the worm bearing assembly allows you to separate the upper motor housing from the lower housing.)

Use care when removing the top and bottom halves as sometimes the small flat washers tends to fall off the shaft when you open sections.

When screwing worm bearing assembly into the lower motor housing, you are screwing brass into plastic. If over tightened, the housing will split. Rule of thumb: tighten until it feels snug then go a 1/4 of a turn.

Why won't the thermostat fit secure on the hole


the thermostat usually just fits in the groove of the housing, they aren't usually very tight as you can just pull them out by hand, make sure that you have the right one for your vehicle.....cheers.

I'm guessing standard transmission? Think about getting it checked. It sounds like the splines (areas where your gears fit/mesh together inside the transmission housing) may be coming loose or for some reason are not fitting together like they should. Are you having any issues changing gears? Have you noticed any excessive play in your gear shifter? Is any fluid leaking out from the housing? I'm thinking something is loose in the housing itself or you may also get the clutch/throw out bearing checked - sometimes that can cause vibration/rattling or even a whining noise as it's going out.
