Typically amps do that for one of two reasons:
1. All the speakers arent connected proper
2. One or both of the amplifier output modules have failed.

I dont know if that model uses discrete transistors or STK type units.
Most of those parts are available off the shelf though

    Hi again,

There's a heatsink in the unit.
If there are 1 or 2 black modules mounted to it with 10 or more leads, that right there , is an amplifier module.
    Get the number off that.
If not , it's power transistors mounted someway to the heatsink.
    Get the numbers off those.

Restoring the power connection to an amplifier.

The simply answer to this is that one or more of the connections is not making a circuit. You need to test the connections and have another go at getting them all securely connected. It seems unlikely that you will have caused a fault to develop, unless the power was on when you first damaged the cables!

Denon PMA-520 amplifier clicking noise

Sounds to me like a bad capacitor, but not sure. I would look inside for any slightly bulging capacitors or capacitors whose plastic wrappings have melted or shrunk or cracked (most caps are cylindrical). Please unplug first and be careful inside there and do not touch anything. I actually came across your post while looking for info on what I think is the same amp my brothers had but blew, and I was going to ask if they still had it so I could repair it. I've been very successful at repairing my electronic equipment such as Altec Lansing Model 95 speaker crossovers, power supply in Emu Emax II, and almost everything else in my studio.

Sound card recommendations for high end hi-fi

Find somewhere that deals Yamaha pci cards and a good rep will do the rest, for what you are doing I ONLY recommend Yamaha. Clearest sound going hands down. NICE setup by the way! My closest freind does sound mixing for live events in the Moncton Coliseum and swears by Yamaha, through much trial and error, for the xcard.

Hi all i have a Denon DRA 455 with Eltax Linear 6.5 wich is 8ohms i have a sub but no sub output, apart from sharing power between them, how can i hook these up please? thanks

You did not state if your sub is a powered sub or not, but if you use the "B" channel for your sub, it should work. This is possible if the denon will work with "A" channel and 'B" channel on together. The back of the Denon should have two sets of speaker outputs. Connect the "B" channel speaker outputs to the sub. The "A" channel will still drive your 6.5's.

Denon AVR 1706 Powers on display then shuts off lght blinks red

replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. i had the exact same problem with mine and once i replaced the capacitors it powered up and stayed on and worked perfect.
these capacitors tend to fail as they're of poor quality.
this fault is very common on denon receivers, especially the later models.

hope this helps?

Denon 455

Hi John
For sure, can at least get an understanding of what may be wrong. You hear the power relay click in, but perhaps no secondary click of the speaker protection relay.  This is generally caused by a fault condition in the amp, resulting in a DC offset voltage being present in the speaker outputs, then detected by the protection circuit, does not allow the speakers to be connected to protect them from damage.  . How far do you want to get into it?

Denon pma-520

If you understand electronics then work backwards from the speaker outputs to the imputs. You need to make the channel buzz by touching the circuit, you can use a small screwdriver. Best of all is a signal injector, you can buy one at a electrical service shop (Maplin UK) they can be cheap for a very simple one.
Compare the results with the good channel. When the sound gets weak you have located the area in which the fault lies.
If not then off to the repair shop.
