It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows though the inlet then the flow pressure should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.

Check this link to replace the inlet valve:

Washer slowly fills with water when not in use. I

I have the same problem. The only problem that I have is not knowing how much water will eventually go into the tub. It takes about 4 or 5 days to accumulate about a gallon. I called the Whirlpool service center and the woman said they recomend turning the water off after each use-I think this is ridiculous. If going away on vaca maybe. Rob

Tub fills when machie is off

You either have a water inlet valve that is leaking by and filling the tub slowly overnight. Or, you may have a siphoning issue that is causing water to be back fed from the drain line. Here's how to determine:

Shut your water taps off when not in use and monitor for several days. If the tub remains dry, then you know you have a water SOURCE problem. If the water fills the tub with the water taps turned off, you have a DRAIN problem.

If you need to replace the water inlet valve, follow these steps:

1. Turn off the water taps and UNPLUG the washer.
2. Remove the water inlet hoses from the back of the washer.
3. Remove the top panel of the washer by removing the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then off.
4. The water inlet valve is located in the left rear of the washer (as viewed from the front). Remove the dispenser hoses from the inlet valve and the electrical connections.
5. Remove the mounting screws that hold the valve in place and it will come out of the machine.
6. Reinstall new valve in the reverse order of the steps I provided to you.

If you believe you may have a siphoning problem, the following link explains what siphoning is and how to correct it:

If you have any questions about any of the information I provided, or if you need assistance in locating parts, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Amana washer won't fill with water

1st I checked the power, compressor in garage had tripped the breaker to the washer circuit. This model has no bells or whistles to tell you if the power is on to the unit. Reset the breaker and unit works.

I would recommend you replace the water inlet valve. This is the only device between the fill hoses and the dispenser that controls the flow of water. The "hissing" noise you hear could be a defective solenoid in the valve that is staying open and allowing water to flow. Try turning the water off at the tap to see if the sound goes away. If it does...water inlet valve. Another tale-tell sign of an inlet valve leaking would be a small trickle of water running down the dispenser tube in the rubber door boot. Over a period of time, the tub will begin to fill and possibly overflow (even with the washer turned off).

You can find a replacement valve at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and look under the "Dispenser Parts" heading for item number 1 (part #8181694).

Replacing the valve is simple. Just follow these steps:

1. Unplug washer, turn off water supply and remove hoses from the back of the washer.
2. Remove the top panel by removing the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off.
3. The water inlet valve will be located at the left rear of the washer (as viewed from the front).
4. Remove the dispenser hose, electrical connections and mounting screws and the valve is removed.
5. Install new valve by following these steps in reverse order. NOTE: When reinstalling top panel, make sure you lay panel on top of washer, leaving a couple of inches of room from the front panel. Then, slide panel towards you (front of washer) so that the top panel slides into the mounting clips.

I hope this information is helpful to you. If you still require assistance, or if you feel I'm wrong in my assessment, please post back and let me know.

Unplug your machine for 5 min then turn on spin to remove water. If water won't go you have a bad water pump. Code FL refers to a low water flow problem ( won't fill fast enough ) or old water still in tub.
Next you need to turn off the water ot the unit and remove the water lines. Look into the water inlets on the washer to see if the dirt screens are clogged and not letting water into you unit at a fast enough pace.
Your unit has a water level sensor and should agitate when full, but I believe your machine might be "timing out" i.e. not filling as fast as your unit expects so even though it doesn't fill all the way it begins agitating because it has taken too long to fill. Good Luck!

Maytag washer PAV2300 water over flow

from what I am reading on-line, it is the mix valve, aka water valve. Unplug the washer, then see if it still fills. If so, it's most likely stuck open, and needs to be replaced. about $22.00

Whirlpool duet washer problem

Our machine was giving the HF code at 37 min after over filling with water. I unplugged the machine, popped the top (took the 3 torx screws off the back) pulled the small hose off the pressure switch sensor (round sensor on the upper back right of the machine) and blew it out just by mouth. It obviously cleared some junk. It works fine now. (also unplugged the 6 wires on the sensor, turned it around and blew on that and heard it clicking, so I knew that was ok.) Hope this helps someone.
