Re: How do I test A battery?
Connect the RED probe(+) to the Pointed side of the battery and the other probe(-) to the other side of the battery. Also try these simple trick to find out your remote control working or not....
Point the remote control towards the Camera of a Mobile Camera
phone, with the camera on. While pressing remote, we can see a light
(Infra Red) coming from its IR LED through the Mobile Camera if the
Remote is working.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, check the sites linked here. Before doing anything, check the battery contacts at the battery compartment of the remote control, for any rust or dust accumulated, which prevents a good battery contact. Clean the well before testing. http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/ http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/

Try removing batteries. Weak batteries might lock up the remote. Also check to see if the batteries were put in properly polarity wise. If not battery problem, the unit might be shorted out internally and that is a hard fix unless you are willing to open it and clean contacts.. otherwise just go out and buy a new universal remote...they are cheap!
1) test the batteries for dead 2) clean the contacts batteries 3)tight the springs contacts batteries with long pliers for better contacts 4) open the remote control clean the KEYPADS for dirty, oxide, corrosion and fix itl 5) try it 6) if doesnot work, you must go to the repair shop TV for fix it. God bless you
Check ur universal remote manual for ur tv codes.Re enter ur tv model universal codes.Ur remote should work again.Try website like 1-800-Remotes factory original.Buy an exact remote to ur tv original remote.Never care for codes agian, because u have the original remote.
Check and make sure that the batteries are getting full contact on each end...often when an electronic device falls and actually forces the batteries out on impact, the contact points are spread apart and prevents full contact on both ends of the battery(s). You can lightly bend the contacts in the remote just slightly... Just enough to get a full contact. If it has springs then assume that there is already full contact there. Secondly if you think you have full contact with the batteries then the next thing is that it may have some internal damage to the remote. (which can be ALOT of different problems) This is a simple solution possibility..Otherwise try a new set of batteries. If its still a no-go then it will require a replacement unless you know how to fix circuit boards.
