Start-up

you may try to bring up your bios screen to see the boot order and then change it if you can....that would be while booting to tap the f2 or f1 key to get that screen ... then check the boot order, if it says position one is diskette, then try to change it...if you can't change it, get the bios updated then flash the bios....that should do it for you. post back your results

How can i make bios k8n-vm.rom to motherboard because i cant read from flopy this file , thank you

anaging and updating your BIOS
The following utilities allow you to manage and update the motherboard
Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) setup.
1.
ASUS EZ Flash
(Updates the BIOS using a floppy disk during POST.)
2.
ASUS AFUDOS
(Updates the BIOS in DOS mode using a bootable floppy
disk.)
3.
ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2
(Updates the BIOS using a bootable floppy
disk or the motherboard support CD when the BIOS file fails or gets
corrupted.)
4.
ASUS Update
(Updates the BIOS in Windows
®
environment.)
Refer to the corresponding sections for details on these utilities.

prepare the motherboard support CD or the floppy disk containing the updated motherboard BIOS before using this utility.
• Make sure that you rename the original or updated BIOS file in the
floppy disk to K8NVM.ROM.

Recovering the BIOS from the support CD
To recover the BIOS from the support CD:
1. Remove any floppy disk from the floppy disk drive, then turn on the
system.
2. Insert the support CD to the optical drive.
3. The utility displays the following message and automatically checks
the floppy disk for the original or updated BIOS file.
4. Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process.
DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing
so can cause system boot failure!

Bios update. I have .bin file, but flash is not working.Chaintek MPM800-3.

Bios is best flashed from a dos (or similar) floppy disk. If you have a floppy then you need to download a boot floppy (I prefer win 98 ones)
and then copy the bin file and the flash utility to that disk.

Bootdisck.com has a selection

Boot from the floppy (you may have to set your bios to do this)

If you don't have a floppy try borrow a usb floppy drive (you may have to tell your bios about it)

If you have windows working there are flash programs that will work from windows.

As with all bios procedures make sure that you have the CORRECT bios for your board. Other bios's will not work and may end up harming your board

Also ALWAYS make a backup of your original bios (best to copy to a flash drive as soon as you can)

Bios verify error

Flashing BIOS from Windows can be problematic. It's usually best to boot from a removable disk and flash from DOS. You can make a bootable floppy using Windows XP if you have a floppy disk drive.
Also, your problem may not be a BIOS limitation, it may be a configuration setting in BIOS such as Clock Speed or a Multiplier. Double check those before trying to flash.

UPDATING BIOS FOR ASROCK M266 A MAINBOARD

In order to update your Bios, you need to have a bootable diskette.
First make sure your 1st boot sequence is Floppy Disc. Place a bootable floppy, if you don't have one just do it by using unused floppy. Right click on 31/2 Floppy (A:), choose Format, then tick the box "Create an MS-DOS Startup Disk". Once finished use this disk to boot your system. After the system completed the boot process, replace your boot disk with your upgrade disk. Type the require command to update your bios.
