Replacing Jenn-air down draft with new unit

I would like to replace my current Jenn-air down draft slide in (s136) with a new JES9900BA. Does the new unit come with a new fan motor? Can I use the exististing vent routing with the new unit. I know both units have the venting on the left side, as you face th unit. Several years ago an appliance installer told me I would have to tear up my kithen floor and basement ceiling to switch out the unit. That may have been a unique situation with the unit we were planning to purchace back then?

Since Jenn-Air has been acquired by Whirlpool, there have been an explosion of problems with their appliances.
Please research your intended purchase before deciding on a replacement:
Jenn-Air info
Considering the array of early failures everyone seems to be having with appliances (US made and foreign) bought in the last few years, I couldn't even recommend a manufacturer any more.

I have a jenn-air electric down draft slide in range. I had a power outage and now stove top works fine but no display or oven functions not even oven light.

You will need to replace the control board (clock assembly) on your unit. I see this all the time with power surges and it takes the control board out. Your model is a discontinued one and the part may need to be a special order. Here is a link to the part, call the number that is on the page and I am sure they may get it for you.

Blower motor suction

You may want to check the venting on the unit, motor may be fine, but sounds to me like you may have a collapsed line, or a plugged line, I would also make sure nothing has gotten down into the venting chamber at the top to clog it, hope that helps

Jenn air downdraft

They should be pretty close to the same, if not, it would would very inexpensive and easy to modify or adapt the new one. Mostly the vent piping would have to be modified. Like I said though, you shouldnt have a problem at all.

Jenn air s136 stove won,t self clean

You've probably already read pages 34 through 37 of the owners manual for this oven. We had this stove in the house we bought and the owner wrote in his own directions, which seem to work fine:

1. Turn knob selector to clean.
2. Turn temp knob to clean.
3. Close and lock door.
4. Push enter button and turn dial clockwise to desired time.
5. Push enter button again.

You've probably already tried this, but just in case I figured I'd pass it along.
