SOURCE: I MOVED RECENTLY AND LOST MY MANUAL AND SOFTWARE
I found the manual for the RCA 5220 at the RCA support website. It is in PDF form and needs Adobe to download. Adobe is available for free most anywhere. Here is the site I found it:

Hello
I don't know your particular machine but my suggestion would be to copy the recording to a computer and then edit it with a program like Waveosaur which you can get from this link.

You can simply highlight sections that you wish to cut out or insert additional recorded parts as you wish.
You may then need to convert the sound file into a different format depending on how you wish to use it in the future any audio converter is a freeware program that will do this for you. http://www.any-audio-converter.com/download.php

1. Go to http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads .
2. Download software (RCA Digital Voice Manager) for any specific model VR.
3. Choose platform (MAC, Windows, Linux)
4. Run software. Browse for file to fix. Right-click and convert to .WAV
5. Save file where you want. Its that simple.
