Try deleting the upper and lower filters. These are registry files that help your system manage your cd drive, and sometimes they become corrupt and stop your system from correctly identifying your cd/dvd drive, or inhibit its propper functioning. Follow the steps from microsoft located here to safely complete this task: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 (under advanced troubleshooting)!

Hello my Dell Studio 1435, it can read CD but not reading DVD... it give noise when i put DVD..

Try using a good quality DVD cleaner first. The lens for cd/dvd are different so one may work if the other is dirty. If cleaning does not work then the dvd lens may be out of alignment or broke. With today's prices it is cheaper to replace the drive $30-40 than try to repair it. Hope this helps.

My acer aspire 5715z can't read any discs

This sounds like a driver problem. First, go to Device Manager, Expand the CD/DVD to get your make and model. Right click on your model and click Troubleshooting. Just follow the instructions, it will walk you through some troubleshooting steps. Also, while you are there you can click on update driver see if there is a new one. Finally, as a last resort you can uninstall then reinstall your driver. Hope this helps, let me know how it turns out.
