Hi FixYa;

My husband had inavertantly turned the oven switch, on our De Dietrich Oven, to the pyro setting and once this is done you are unable to undo it until about 3 hours later, when it has run it's course.

However with Rylee Smith's help - between us we worked out that if we turned the oven off immediately (which we had done as soon as we realised our error) and unplugged it from the mains if necessary (not in our case) and then waited for the three hour time limit to expire then, we could open the oven. This is what we did.

On the oven casing when the pyro is used - a red warning light also comes on and you can only open the oven when this has gone out.

The "Pyro" is for automatic cleaning of the oven.

The turning on of the Pyro is absolute and there is NO undoing it once it is locked in place - we contacted your firm in the hope that we could by-pass the Pyro but as we found out - with Rylee's help - it is just not possible.

I was very appreciative of having someone to talk to whilst we sorted out the problem and can't thank Rylee Smith enough for his patience in dealing with my query.

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Dean

I have Super Capacity Plus Advanced Cooking system #6114P628-60. Bought in 1997. Is there a manual? Can I safely use oven and Range top after electric switch on range burned out?

If you cant get the genuine switch, there may be an after market or generic switch which does the same thing. Try looking on the internet for oven control switches or thermostats.

While cooking with my may tag gas oven it will completely turn off

Did the oven get extremely hot? If so a thermal switch probably opened causing shut down. Some of these will reset when the temp drops to a normal range. Other thermal switches fail and must be replaced for repair. You may still have another problem of oven temp run away possibly caused by the electronic controller or maybe the oven temp probe.

Oven sef clean latch locked but door is open and I cannot clos it. I inadvertantly urned it to self clean and openedthe door and the latch is locked in self clean position. How do I release the latch so I...

Ok. Open the door and find the oven light switch(es) (some models had two switches). Press the switch(es) in and see if the latch goes back to the home position. If not enlist a volunteer to turn on the self clean cycle while you are holding the switch(es) in. Just after the self clean starts have them hit cancel and wait until the lock comes back to it's "home" or unlocked position.
Good luck!!

KitchenAid KGRT607HWH6 temperture, light, error code

F7-E1 - Common Switch Wire Is Defective - This error occurs when common wire to latch switch and door switch is shorted.
Check all connections at control board and at the latch switch and door switch.
If connections are ok, then check individual switches as outlined for the F5 error code.
