1 HD damage could be done when you drop the Zen and you hear noises inside, some times the display just shows the Creative logo and no more. 2 the display just show the Creative logo, no noises inside, you can tray to put in Recovery mode as mentioned in the other solution and then erase firmware then reload firmware, this firmware can be downloaded form creative page,http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=213&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP®ion=1&P However Before you go to all that trouble though try these steps:
1. Connect the device to the wall charger. 2. Hold the power switch to ON. 3. Put a paper clip into the reset hole. 4. Continue holding the power switch on until the Creative logo appears. 5. Select Format All from the Recovery Mode menu. (Note: THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA FROM YOUR DEVICE! - but it's better than buying a new device) 6. When the reformatting is done, select Reboot from the Recovery Mode menu.

Gently push the end of a thin object (such as a pin or straightened paperclip) into the Reset hole. The reset button for your player is located at the bottom of the player, to the left of the sync adapter port.
Refer to the article below to access the recovery mode and perform a Clean Up.
Clean Up scans a player\'s hard disk/memory card and removes any invalid links from the music library. It does not affect the working music files at all. It is recommended that you perform "Clean Up" first before formatting or reloading the player\'s firmware.
It is advisable for you to clean up your player regularly if you are frequently transferring files from you computer to your player or vice versa.
Mine did the same thing, and this helped. I took out the battery, and then slid the power switch toward the power icon and held it there while putting the battery back in. This turned on the Recovery Mode. I selected "cleanup," and after that was done, I selected reboot. Once that was finished, the Zen started rebuilding the library. After that, the Zen turned to the menu screen and I was able to listen to music like normal. Hope that helps!
You firstly should make sure about you dont have some autorun virus in
your player.I had the same problem and i fortunately discovered an
autorun virus in my player.I cleaned it and i started it in recovery
mode.then i updated the firmware.it began working.you should try
that.you can find the firmware upgrade program on creatives
Sounds like it may be the index in your Music Library. Try going into Recovery Mode; remove battery, hold power switch to ON, replace battery, release power switch when the Recovery Mode screen appears on the screen. Run Option 1 CleanUP, after it completes run Option 4 Restart. You will get a Rebuilding Library screen when it reboots, that's normal, then it should go back to your startup screen.
