Memory Full Need help! Camera takes 5 pictures and then says "memory full". I have used new memory card, formatted from Menu and still only 5 pictures. 5 pictures with or without card, so I guess the camera has stopped readaing the memory cards. Any solutions?

Re: Memory Full

What size is the memory card. What picture size has the camera been set to? Check out your Manual for the images sizes viz a vis memory card capacity - and come back

The camera says memory full when I try to take a picture even thought I just put a new memory card it in

You probably need to format your card. Look thru the menu on your camera...there should be a place on the help menu, which allows you to format your card.

"Memory full" displays on screen.

You still need to get rid of the pics on the internal memory. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert your card and it should work properly.

Brand new camera, unable to take any pictures. Internal memory is full. Even when we put a mmory card in place, still thinks internal memory is full. Why doesn't the camera use the memory stick to save...

If you used the internal memory even once, the memory card will not work until you get rid of whatever is in the internal memory. Do this...with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, your card should work properly.

I can only take like 2 to 5 pictures on my Canon PowerShot A530 then the memory card says it's full.

Actually, your camera is probably telling you the internal memory is full. To get the camera to write to the card, you need to get rid of everything on the internal memory. Here's how...with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, your card should work properly.

My camera keeps saying the card is full when its brand new

You just need to format the memory card. And make sure that you are in memory card option for the picture storage when you take pictures.
Formatting the memory card This function will format the memory card and will erase all files in memory including files that have been protected. Note: Once formatted all the images stored in the memory will be erased. This process is irreversible. Please download all images to the PC before formatting the card. 1. Touch the icon (arrow down) function area until you see the “Format” option.
2.Touch the icon (memory card drawing/picture) function area to enter the Format menu.
3.Touch the icon (arrow left) function area to select OK/Cancel.
4.Press the Menu/OK button to confirm.
5.A Format message will appear on the LCD.
6.Touch the icon (arrow right) or (Arrow left) function area to select Yes or No.

Internal Memory full; No memory card in; Will not take pictures;

You need to get a memory card and promise to never use the internal memory only causes problems as you have found out. When you get the new card follow this procedure: 1. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to format the internal memory. 2. Insert the new card and do the format thing again to prepare the new card. Happy photography!

New camera ,not working.

lol, ok...The memory card will only go in one way. But check the little white switch on the side of the memory card and make sure it is NOT in the locked position. Once this is taken care of reinstall the memory card. Now in you options/menu screen you can select on there where you want your pictures to be stored...Device / Memory / Auto. You can either put it on Memory or Auto (if you have this). In addition, you may need to format your new memory card. This is also in your menu screen to Format Memory Card. Go ahead and do this. But be forwarned...if you do this when you have pictures on your card, it will erase all of your pictures completely. If you do those things, everything should work fine. You don't need a full charge for your camera to work, but if you have rechargable batteries, it is recommended to fully charge your camera before use. If you are using standard AA batteries this isn't necessary. Oh, and when your memory card is in the camera you should see a little icon on your LCD screen that looks like a mini memory card. This is an indicator that the camera recognizes you have the memory card in the camera and along with that will be a 4/1200. The first number is the amount of pictures taken on the card currently and the second number is the total possible pictures you can take on the card before it is full.
