Question about Toshiba MW24F52 24" TV/VCR/DVD Combo

VCR kicks out cassettes

Recently, a video tape cassette got caught in the VCR of my TV/DVD/VCR combo. I got the cassette out, but now the VCR won't load a cassette. A cassette goes into the unit, but is kicked back out within 2 seconds of it being loaded into the VCR without playing the cassette. I took the back of the television off to see if any bits of tape were caught in the heads/rollers/etc.. It doesn't look like there's any stray bits of tape stuck in the mechanism, and as far as *I* know, tapes load fine when I insert them in the VCR. Anyone got any advice? Thanks!

Sounds as if something got bent in the loading mechanism when you freed the stuck tape. Careful examination of the loading operation with the cover off may reveal the problem, but you may require a service shop, as there are hazardous voltages present inside, even when switched off.

How do I remove a stuck tape from the VCR?

One of the disadvantages of a combo is the additional disassembly required to get access to the VCR but it will be necessary to find out what is jamming the cassette. Removal consists of unthreading the tape and getting it back into the cassette. This will allow the shutter to close so the cassette can be removed.

Can I transfer video tapes onto CD's

A lot depends on what type of video tape you use and where do you want to play the DVDs (CDs are for audio recording only). If tape is compact VHS then you can buy a simple DVD Recorder VHS VCR combo player and transfer across easily provided you have the compact VHS cassette module.

For other type of video camera tapes you will have to try other methods like connect camera with tape to a DVD recorder and directly burn the DVDs. You can buy attachments and software for PC but I have found these very cumbersome to work with.

Make sure the device is plugged into the household power supply and is switched on if no indicator lights are illuminated on the control panel. Watch for any power-saving technology that can shut the recorder down when it's not being used. Try the "Power" button again.

Verify that the media you are using is compatible with the device. Most combos record to DVD-RAM/-R/-RW/+R/+RW Discs on the disc side. VHS cassettes can have erasure tabs, so check that the tab is still there if you can't record to the cassette. Watch out for copy-protection technology on either the tape or disc. Often it's indicated on the packaging. Copy protection is designed to stop illegal reproductions, so may block many recordings of copyrighted material.

Connect a television to the "Video Out," "S-Video Out" or "Component Video Out" jacks on the DVD-VCR combo if you can't see video from the combo playing on the television.

Forcibly eject a disc if it is stuck in the combo. Often, manufacturers will create a sequence of buttons to use that accomplishes this. On a Panasonic, you force the combo into "Standby" by pressing "Power" for 10 seconds. Then press and hold "Stop" and the "Channel Up" button together for five seconds, and the disc should eject.

My VCR/DVD combo wont play a VHS tape when inserted. Each time I insert a VHS tape, it shoots it right back out and sometimes unravels the tape around the apparatuses inside the VCR. It won't reco

the tape coming back out and unravels the tape means the loading mechanism is the problem----when a tape goes in it loads the tape down, then it pulls the tape out of the cassette and puts it up against the drum with the video heads-----many of these are belt driven and a bad belt or belts will cause this----it is called the loading and or transport mechanism.......when it fails the arms come back but the tape does not get rewound back into the cassette so it mangles it when the cassette door on the tape closes----most likely a belt or the drive idler which also rewinds and fast forwards the tape.

My vhs tape is stuck in vcr it is a toshiba with vcr and dvd combo?

The only safe way to remove the cassette without damaging anything in the vcr is to remove the vcr and carefully remove it. Don't force anything. It can be accessed by removing the rear cover. There should be two srews holding the DVD/VCR mechanism then pull the whole "tray" out at once. There may also be a metal cover over the vcr section. Just follow the screws until you can see where the tape is caught. Thanks for using fixya.

VCR ejecting my cassettes

Try removing the top cover & have a look to see what happens when you put the tape in & press play/rewind etc. Is the take up spool (right hand spool) turning properly or is there slack tape not being taken into the cassette? Are the heads spinning ? I think your problem is more likely to do with the tape not travelling smoothly around the tape path. Possibly the clutch gears need cleaned or the soft brakes may not be dis-engaging properly.

Video playback

this must be a vcr tape you are talking about thats in a tv
well the reason is the tape may not be working correctly inside ( tape not going at proper speed for tape sensors to reconize as correct , this is due to disc clutch pads that are starting to slip because of to much strain on the pull of the tape
gears will need to be lubricated and rubber pulling wheels will need to be cleaned
