Question about Bose Cinemate Digital Home Theater System Speaker
Make sure your system is not plugged into a surge protector. Sometimes a surge protector will foul the system up, don't know why. lol. I fought with my system for 3 hours trying to get it to work, then moved it from my surge protector to the wall and it came on. If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the receiver module itself, wait 60 sec, then plug it back in. If that still does not solve the problem, I would suggest calling Bose Customer Service..

Same exact problem!!! My Bose Cinemate will not power on at all!!! Tried surge protector, no good, tried plugging into wall outlet, still no good. Tried replacing battery in the remote, still no good. Called customer service, did everything they said, still no good!
Returing the Bose Cinemate II tomorrow and going to get a new one to see if I simply got a lemon.
To test that your remote is in fact working use a smartphone camera and point the remote towards the phone when it's in camera mode. Press any button on the remote and the camera will actually show the IR pulse (or not if the remote is broken)... Cool way to check it!
My remote works so that only means that my Bose Cinemate II is a dud.

If resetting this system and re-seating the interface (box with light) to the bass module doesn't fix this, you may need a new interface module. This sells for about $40-50 from Bose. If this is under it's 1-yr warranty, they should be able to replace this for free.
So just incase you haven't tried it: 1. Unplug the power cord from the bass module (sub-woofer) along with the interface module and wait at least 30+ seconds. 2. Re-connect the interface first- screw it in as tight as can be. 3. Re-connect the power cord, and try the remote again.
This is really the only solution, and it's exactly what their tech support will have you try. That's the one functionally weak point with that system, that little module needs to be adjusted and re-seated from time to time.
