Falling water hits something hot in freezer and causes sizzle sound

I notice a sizzle sound in my side-by-side (freezer part) tonight. I removed the bottom drawer and heard the sound coming from behind the louvers in the back. Saw slow drip of water sometimes hitting something hot and heard the sizzle sound. Haven't had any problems before - no icing up. Did notice tonight that there was a slight amount of water (less than 1 oz) on the floor on the freezer side. Any ideas as to cause and recommendations on how to fix? Thanks, bob

The sizzling noise is water hitting the defrost elememt and this is normal - shows the defrost system is working. if water comes on the floor of the freezer, this may be the drain for the defrost water is blocked. remove the freexer back panel and the drain is in the tray where the defrost water is caught. if it is blocked - usually with ice - clear it with hot water and make sure the water drains freely. takes some patience and maybe several attempts

Why does water drip followed by a sizzle?

Defrost water could be leaking out of or missing the pan underneath the refrigerator, causing it to sizzle when it contacts the coils.

Freezer leaks water out the bottom

sounds like your defrost drain line is clogged or unhooked, you will have to remove everything from the freezer and take the inside back cover off to check the problem.

when in defrost there's a heater under the evap coil in the freezer, all you're hearing is the water from the frost melting off of the coil and hitting the heater, this is a normal thing so don't be worried, you might even see an orange glow in there through the holes or at the bottom of the back inside freezer panel,it's just the heater doing it's thing, then the water goes into the drain and down near the compressor where it will evaporate,

Look at the drawing part #6 is the defrost timer.
Directly below that is a hole about the size of a dime its an access to a part of the timer you can turn with a flat tip screwdriver. There is a small removable cover there so here is what to do.

Open the fridge door and look up at the bottom of the control panel.

Remove the cover if it is there.

Slowly turn the timer you will hear it click until your unit comes on you will be able to see which way it turns as it is designed in a manner that a flat tip will only turn it one way.

That should get it going for a bit you will need a new timer.

Thanks for asking.

Freezer malfunction

Drain hole is clogged behind the panel that covers the coils. I found a peice of solder blocking mine. Water was freezing on the bottom of the freezer and leaking out to the floor.
