No sound on lcd tv

First check your TV setup menu to see if your TV audio preferences are set to PC audio. That is a setting that sends audio out through your PC cables instead of the TV speakers. It may also have been set to mute through a remote.

I have 50"plasma tv with picture but no sound. It shut itself off a number of times before this happened. I have the back of the tv off. the model number is PN50A400C2DXZA version SM12

Well, it could be something inside, but it could also be a setting.
In SETUP, there's the option of using the internal speakers or external speakers. If it's set on external speakers and you don't have any connected, then you get no sound.

Why does my JBL sound bar connected with the optical cable not get any sound from my samsung ue46f6400

You may need to select 'external speakers' in the audio setup.

Here are the steps:

I have a Samsung LE40B650T2 - no sound direct from the TV

It sounds that the sound processing section [digital circuts] are working well, and the fault must be either to the speakers, settings or to analogue audio amplifier section. Make sure that the Mute function is OFF. If it is OFF, and still you do not get audio output by tV speakers, surely the fault must be to audio amplifier circuits, provided speakers are OK. If your TV has a headphone out socket, this socket should also checked for proper interconnection.

The volume has went off on my tv. its a samsung le26b450c4w

First verify that the mute is disengaged (toggle the mute button). Second, check the sound configuration to make sure the internal speakers are on, or check the sound output to make sure it is going to the inputs of an external audio amplifier (stereo receiver) and that the external amplifier is working. Try a different input source - perhaps the problem is your cable feed or DVD player.
If the internal speakers are on, the volume is up, and you still don't get any sound from a known-good source (TV channel, DVD player, etc.), then try running the sound to a stereo system as described above.
If that works, you may have a shorted speaker amplifier (depending on the set's design, this may blow a fuse supplying power to both left and right amplifiers or a speaker protection circuit will keep the speakers disconnected). These aren't usually hard to repair, but if you find a blown fuse, fix the amplifier before replacing the fuse or you'll just waste another fuse.

I have lost my owners manual for this set and I want to attach external speakers to improve the sound quality. What impedance should I use and how do I set the t.v. for this operation.

I have 2 Samsung's. One is a series 3 one is a series 5. Both are very similar in the setup so I hope this is helpful. I have both tv's hooked up to external speakers.
First step is to figure out what kind of connect you will use. There is a 3.5mm Jack on the back of the Samsung models the is labeled as EXT. There is also the Optical cable port which will give you better sound. So you need to see which of the ports your speaker system has.
Second go into your menu - speaker settings - and at the bottom it will give you the option to use external speakers. Choose that.
Now that should be all you need to set your tv up for external speakers.

It sounds like the main board has gone out. The only audio components are the main board, wiring and speakers. Since audio is missing from external speakers as well, that tells you that the main board is at fault. The cost of the board could be from $150.00 to almost $300.00 depending on the version # of your unit and dealer mark up. You can call 1-800-samsung for nearest service center.

I would borrow a set of external speakers to see if I could get sound from the sound circuit at all, if not, then it sounds like the repair shop.
