Hi, my friends and I have 3 ps3's between us and want to permanently wire up a multiplayer lan between them (we've tried and failed so far), we don't really want to bring our laptops into the equation just a simple wired connection, can this be done and if so how and what do we need to do/get for the lan to work?

It's not the internet settings, it's parental resctriction ;) I don't have a PS3, but I guess it could be found in some account management, or something like that. Then you have to find Parental Restriction.
The reason this have occoured, I guess, is because you have registered the psn-account on a e-mail adress where your "age" are under 18 years. You probably will need a password for your parents e-mail adress.
If your PS3 is Networked upto Your PC to use the internet connection, You have to allow the PC to share its Internet connection with yout PC, Do this By going into Network settings, Checking the properties of your LAN card in your PC. and clicking on, "share my internet". This should alleviate that problem..
If your PS3's Wired connection isnt working. but your PC one is, Try moving your PS3 Lan cable into one of the other Free LAN Ports (if available) or Try Switching the PC cable over to the PS3's Port in the Router, and Visa-Versa !
Try making a connection so your friends can join you because i had this problem with Diablo 2 lol me and my bro were playing and he tried to connect to my Cpu but couldn't so i connect to his CPU just fine
the Ps3 should connect fine, if you have your wired router set up right to automatically assign ip addresses...(DHCP)..in otherwords, anyone who comes over with a computer from anywhere..even me..should be able to plug a lan cable in to your router and it should connect without changing any settings. If this is true, then you should be able to go into your settings menu, select wired connection type, hook up your lan cable...then select auto and east for the settings for ethernet. this should work, if any pc works. If not, you may have to call AOL for info on how to properly configure your router and PS3. The network issue is most likely a AOL issue, and not a PS3 issue.
