Question about RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100

2 Answers

Getting an annoying message constantly

"you are attempting to open a secure connection, but the server's certificate is not trusted". My choices are:
Continue
Close connection
View certificate
Trust certificate

When I click continue, close, or view certificate, the message repeats itself. When I click "trust" it asks for my "key store password" of which I am ignorant.

This has just started and is relentless in its repeatability, even when I am texting, calling, or emailing.

Thanks

Just got off the phone with Sprint support... who answered my call in about 10 seconds(wow). Apparently RIM sent out "bad service books" a few weeks ago, so you need to delete two of them, and then reconnect the host routing table. I have no idea what any of this means, but follow these steps:

OPTIONS/ ADVANCED OPTIONS
CHOOSE SERVICE BOOK
FIND: "NEXTEL MMS TRANSPORT" RIGHT CLICK ON THE MENU BUTTON AND DELETE
FIND: "MMS CLIENT" RIGHT CLICK ON THE MENU BUTTON AND DELETE

HIT BACK BUTTON
CHOOSE "HOST ROUTING TABLE"
HIT MENU KEY, SELECT "REGISTER NOW"

It's supposed to take 20 minutes, but it apparently works. Enjoy!

It depends on the program.... facebook had a serious problem with that. i believe the message should also tell you what program is attempting to open a connection.
for further assistance feel free to email support@ridarweck.com

My Pan. novel says I need a security certificate....what is that?

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a server and a client-typically a web server (website) and a browser; or a mail server and a mail client (e.g., Outlook).

The file cannot be opened. EITHER IT IS NOT SIGNED WITH A TRUSTED CERTIFICATE OR ONE OF ITS COMPONENTS CANNOT BE FOUND. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, TRY REINSTALLING OR RESTORING THIS

Check the file extension.
This occurs when you don't have a program which can support the type of file trying to open.
Try opening with some program or chage the extension of file if it is not proper or install appropriate software supporting the filetype.

Moto Q can send, however can not recieve new messages

First thought is that your certificate expired. That would explain why it would work one day and not the next.
Next thought is that you made a change to the IIS server they use to sync. Try deleting the partnership on one phone and recreating it.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Security Permissions issue when installing certificate

I don't know how big your company is but given that it has an IT help desk it must be of some size. Security has to be tight and it may well be that installing the certificate can only be done on certain units or by certain people within the IT department. I would have a word with them (if you have not already)

Error message: "Unable to establish a secure connection"?

This error can occurs because the VeriSign Certificate Authority (CA) has changed the hashing algorithm that is used for new Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) server certificates from Message Digest 5 (MD-5) to Secure Hash Algorithm 1 (SHA1). A supported fix is now available from Microsoft for Windows CE 2.11 and Pocket Explorer 3.0 this fix can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/handheldpc/downloads/128bit.asp Note: After you have downloaded and installed the fix, be sure to soft reset the device.

If you have a PKCS12 certificate you will need to use a special program to import the personal and root certificates.you have to use a utility like P12imprt/Crtimprt/Enroll to install the certificate, run the program and follow the instructions to install the certificate.
