SOURCE: Samsung TV now takes over 30min to come on

There are a number of Capacitors on the IP/Power supply bd and they have gone bad. Replaced them with the proper Capacitance as the old ones are BUT get the 35 volt Caps. Going from 10v to 35v will fix this problem.

SOURCE: I have a VP322 32" Plasma TV with bad capacitors

I just got off the phone with a Vizio rep - My VP322 also stopped powering on - 2 years and 2 days old. They are sending a repair person to fix the TV with NO charge to me. I had no problem with them, just called and told them what had happened (wouldnt power on), they took my information and informed me that they can authorize a courtesy repair for 1 year AFTER the warranty expires. They returned my call within 5 hours with the name of the company that will contact me to repair the TV in my house. I will let you know if they actually come through

Best way to tell is that the negative lead will have long stripe printing on the body, if the cap is brand new the long lead will be positive. See pictures of caps here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Bad%20capacitors/

My Channel Master CM-7000 D2A TV Converter box is stuck with Red Light ONLY. Does not respond to any button I press. There is no picture

This is a common problem. There are several capacitors on the power supply and logic board that are bad. Replacement of these parts has restore all units that I have looked at.

On the power supply I would replace at a minimum:
C14 - 4.7ufd 50v UPW1H4R7MDD
C4 - 1ufd 50v UPW1H010MDD
C8 - 100ufd 25v UHE1E101MED
C10 - 470ufd 16v UHE1C471MPD
C12 - 1000ufd 10v UHE1A102MPD

There are 4 others in the supply that were not grossly bad.
C1 - 22ufd 400v EEU-EE2G220
C7 - 220ufd 25v UHE1E221MPD
C11 - Same as C10
C13 - Same as C10

Logic board:
E5 - 33uf 35v EEU-FM1A471
E6 - Same as E5

Part Numbers of replacement caps are Nichicon or Panasonic.

Note: Caps on the logic board are extremely hard to replace due to the internal ground plane.

Contact me if this is beyond your skills for possible repair.

I turned the tv off the night before and went to turn it on the next morning and it would not turn on. There are no flashing red lights at all. I was told it could be a fuse or is the power supply shot? ...

Since the red light is not on, plug a lamp or something in the electrical outlet to verify it has power. (A circuit breaker may have tripped).
IF you know how to solder and repair electronics equipment, you can proceed and do the following. (Or if you have friend that knows electronics repair)
) UNPLUG THE TV SET.
) Place the set face down on a cloth covered flat surface. (table)
) Remove the back cover. 18 screws around the edges, 4 for the pedestal stand and 2 at the connection area.
) The only board not covered which you will see is the power supply board.
) You will be able to see the white fuse near the edge. You can test it with an ohn meter.
) Look at the capacitor top. If any are bowed up, you will have to replace them. A bad batch of capacitors were manufactured and several companies used them in a variety of items.
) Remove the cable connectors. Some connectors have a clip holding them in place, so press the clip to release it.
) Board has 4 screws at the corners.
) Handle board by the edges to prevent contamination, static etc.
) The capacitors are High Temperature rated.
)The ones I replaced with NTE capacitors are;
4] 1000Mfd 35volts
1] 2200Mfd 10v
1] 100Mfd 10v
1] 470Mfd 25v
2] 47Mfd 50v
1] 10Mfd 50v
These are polarized electrolytic capacitors and should be replaced with fresh ones, not old dried ones. One source is nteinc.com. You should be able to find an outlet near you that sells them.
Please note; one capacitor has a beige glob of rubber on top. This is to prevent the capacitor from touching the diode next to it!! If you replace it, put some insulation on the diode wire to prevent shorting.
When soldering the capacitors in place, do them one at a time to prevent mixups and leave a space between the PC board and the base of the capacitor. This space allows for expansion when the unit heats up.
) Replace the back cover and try it.
) The parts are around $20

Tv will not turn on and red light blinks

The red light is probably blinking in a pattern of 4 on then a pause.
This problem is almost certainly caused by bad capacitors on the power supply board.
A bad batch of capacitors were manufactured by a foreign supplier and several companies used them. If you have any knowledge of electronics you can fixed it for $15 to $20.
First you will need a soldering iron, solder, solder removing tool/wick and cutter plyers. Or have a knowledgeable friend do.
) Unplug the tv.
) Lay the tv onto a cloth covered smooth surface.
) Remove the back cover. It has 13 screws around the edge, 2 on the connect area and 4 for the stand.
) Examine the top of the capacitors on the power supply board. It's the board in the center that's not covered.
) If the capacitor tops are bowed up, they will have to be replaced.
) I would replace the bad capacitors and most of the other smaller ones just in case.
These capacitors are rated High Temperature and are electrolytic so they are polarized.
Get new ones since old ones may be dried out.
These are the ones I replaced.
4) 1000Mfd 35v
1) 2200Mfd 10v
1) 100Mfd 10v
1) 470Mfd 25v
1) 10Mfd 50v
2) 47Mfd 50v
I used parts by NTE from nteinc.com. You can go to their website to find a distributor near you.
The replacement capacitors Farad value must be the same although the voltage rating can be higher. (it will be in some cases)
)Remove the cable/connectors to the board. Several connectors have a clip holding them in place so press it to release.
) Remove the board by removing the 4 screws at the corners
) Unsolder and replace the capacitors one at a time. Handle the board by the edges and clean off any loose solder to prevent shorts.
) Where replacing the capacitor, leave a space between the board and the base of the capacitors. These units can heat up and needs room to expand without straining the wire leads !
) Notice one item with a glob of beige rubber on top. This is the keep the unit from bending over and touching the diode !! If you replace this one you should insulate the diode wire to prevent shorting!

) Re-install the board and replace the cover/stand.
The set should now work.

Start up takes longer than 5 minutes

Check power board for capacitors with swollen tops. Replace them with same mfd value but slightly higher voltage value. Example if 1000mfd/10v use 1000mfd/16v.

LCD turns off\on repair

The capacitors are located near the bottom right side heatsink if you check the link below. I'm sure a few of them might be bulging on top but you can replace the 2200uF/10v as well.
