First get the 3G access point settings from your service provider and manually enter under network option or ask for the auto config settings. check 3G signal feasibility in your area. put your cell in either auto (GSM/UMTS) mode for auto switch between 2G and 3G as per the availability or with UMTS/3G mode for always with 3G connection. If your provider has only 3G in your area, it wont work unfortunately due to the frequencies involved. it uses
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 on 2G Is your provider using only 3G by any chance? or is the area you live in only covered by 3G?
Are both phones with the same company? Are both SIM cards active and working?
If both are with the same company, you may have an incompatable phone or incompatable SIM. 2G SIM cards will work on 3G phones (mostly) but 3/4G SIM cards are not compatable with 2G phones.
If the SIM cards are with different companies, you'll need to unlock the phone in order to use a SIM from a different carrier. Unlock codes can be purchased here: http://www.unlockitnow.com
1) Turn Off the Phone 2) Remove Battery 3) Remove Sim Card 4) Put battery and sim card again 5) Turn On the phone 6) Press Menu 7) Factory Data Reset (Remember that: This action will reset the phone to its initial factory state, erasing all data and wonloaded applications, so BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP first you try this). Press "reset phone" HARD RESET 1) Turn off the Phone 2) Press HOME + POWER KEYS (keep them holding for about 25 secs) until you see a screen with a phone and a triangle. then 3) SLIDE YOUR KEYBOARD TO OPEN IT 4) press ALT + l ( TO SHOW YOU OPTIONS) 5) Press ALT + W ( TO FORMAT ALL DATA) Note: When I write the sign + you don't have to press the + sign, it means that you need to press both keys @ the same time. Note2: Don't do this if you don't have a Data Plan or your 2G or 3G is not working, why? because you will not be able to sign in again without a working Data Plan (2g / 3g).
Call up tmobile, do not tell them you have a rooted phone or that it was modified in anyway, otherwise they will blame it. They will be able to help you get it working by modifying / adding some settings in your phone.
The 3G icon appears only when you are in 3G reception area and you are receiving 3G signal. Ensure that you are in the 3G reception area and signal is received .some areas there may be weak signal it may also cause to select Gsm mode
unlock phones are so unperdictable...there may not be a fix for this issue..other then getting an AT&T phone....and even if u are able to get it to start working again more then likely u wil continue to have many more isses..mainly becuz of the network changes..for example....using 3g and 3g only...last year the AT&T network was stil using both 2 and 3g network and there was even a few 2g SIM cards being sold in stores...now it almost all 3g..which of course complicates many things...even if u own a 2g AT&T phone a 3g SIM card can be and will be used on that phone....with unlock phones running on the 2g network the issues with not having a SIM card where possible...it was still unstable when wanting to use data services....but voice services were possible...now with everything going 3g...its makes things alot more complicated with AT&T if using a phone without SIM cards...if ur phone has the fuction to beable to shut off 3g networking and run on 2g.(like the apple iphone has) then try that....good luck
It sounds like you may have a poor 3G reception in your area. Even though other O2 phones are working better they may be running on the 2G masts in your area.
Try in setting/network menu turning off 3G reception, that way the device will only look for 2G masts. Your handset will give priority to 3G masts where available and sometimes will hold onto the weakest signal making poor call quality, and or dropping connection.
Advantages to using 2G only = better standby and talk time / better reception where 3G is poor.
Disadvantages = Slower web browsing / no video calls.
WEP / WPA will only apply if you are connecting using WI FI and have nothing to do with your mobile network connection.
Hope that helps?
it that was the case, no.......what you can try to do, to be sure, try putting another sim card in the phone.....if that doesnt work, you will have to do a wipe of the handheld....it could have gotten a virus. in order to do that, go to options, security options, general settings, press the menu button and select wipe handheld
