Question about GE 19GT317 19" TV

Open Question

I have the GE 19GT317 19" television set and someone recently attempted to connect a video game system into the back of it, despite the tv not having the corresponding red, white, and yellow outputs.

The game system was the Nintendo 64, introduced in the 90s and they plugged the three cables into the holes located in the lower center of the back of the tv. The picture became increasingly darker every time they would turn on the system and only lightened slightly when the cables were moved around a bit while plugged in.

SOURCE: 31GT720 GE Stereo Monitor

I have the same TV. Make sure you have hooked up the red, white, yellow leads from the "out" jacks on the DVD to the same colored "in" jacks on the back of the TV. You also have to make sure your TV is set to Video Mode. I do this with the GE remote that came with the TV. There is a WHO-INPUT button on the left side of the remote, 3rd from the bottom. Toggling this button should switch you between TV and Video mode. Hope this works for you.

Make sure the Video Output settling is accurate to the TV/connection you are using (i.e. HDMI, analog etc)
This can be changed in the System Settings
If you have recently changed TV's - Set your PS3 back up on your previous TV and then go through the Video Output settings and change to the new TV your are using.
Hope this helps.

Trying to hook up a game system and all i get is unusable signal

The brand and model listed here are GE which is also RCA.

The PS3 should also have audio/video output jacks to hook up with--if so connect it via one of the sets of input jacks on the back of this set and select that input on the set---

I can hear the tv but no picture.. i remove the red, yellow, and white cord from the back of the tv to dust...pls help.. Apex tv brand

Hi! Welcome to Fixya!

If you are unable to view video on your television set, the issue may be that the TV's video input selection does not match.

The TV input source must match how the equipment for example DVD is connected to the TV.

* Plug the RCA cables(red, yellow, white cord) to the designated ports.
* Grab your Apex TV remote and attempt to cycle through the video inputs by hitting the "Input" button at the top of the remote multiple times.
* If you have used a DVD player or similar external device recently, you may have neglected to switch the video input back to the one assigned to your TV programming.
* Devices such as DVD players often reside on the AV 1 or AV 2 video input, and failure to switch back off of one of these will result in a dark, soundless screen when attempting to view cable or satellite television.
* Cycle through the inputs until you land on your cable/satellite input once more, which should result in an immediate restoration of picture and sound.
* If it does not, approach your Apex TV and look over the A/V cable connections. The A/V cable has two sets of prongs, one on either of its ends. Each prong is either red, yellow and white, and plugs into corresponding A/V ports on the back of the Apex TV and the back of your cable or satellite box. Make sure the ports and prongs are color-corresponding and have not been switched up.

Thank you for using FixYa. Keep me posted. :

"no signal" showing on tv screen

  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

No manual to figure out how to configure video settings for games

It's March 30, 2009 and I just tried hooking this same tv up with the DVD player. No remote and was ready to throw the TV out the window. Another question on this same site helped me figured it out. There is no input button. You have to plug the DVD or video system in and then go to channel 91. That's the default channel for input 1. Strange but it worked.

Use the remote to tune to channel 00. THis will give you the component inputs. The channel up down buttons will skip it so you have to actually push 00 on the remote.

Scrabble when HDMI cables are hooked up to AV4

Your issue has nothing to do with the repair. This TV model maxes at 1080i, and your video game maxes at 1080p. Set both the TV and the video game system to either 1080i for high-def or settle with 480p by setting bothe the TV and video game to that resolution. If the problem persists even after this, then check the Philips website for a firm upgrade. WARNING: use of modern video game systems with a plasma or projection TV is a bad idea.
