Try switching usb cable into another usb port, reinstall driver and active sync device. if this fails remove storage card from phone(if you have one) and insert directly into usb port, and treat it as a removeable hard drive.

You should make sure the memory card slot does not have dust in it and you should also try putting the memory card into another computer,to see if it will work if it do not work the memory card is bad.

I am new at this computer stuff and i wanted to know how do you download pitures from a digital camera to the computer

There are a number of ways:
1). The digital camera will have a communications cable (likely USB) and probably a CD. Install the driver software on the CD and then connect the digital camera to the computer using the USB. Every other thing should be as easy as copy and paste. Or of the camera has a management software, it will give you options to sync with your Pictures folder.
2). You can save your shots on memory card inserted in the camera. Take the card out and connect to a computer that has card reader slot. Copy your files across.
3). So cameras have Bluetooth connectivity. With the same method of connecting two mobile phones using Bluetooth, you can connect your camera to a Bluetooth enabled laptop and copy the files via Bluetooth.

Inspron 530S, since power outage all USB ports are

Hope for the best and assume that some files got corrupted at the time of the power failure. So try getting into BIOS, the objective being doing something besides putting in a PCI Card with USB ports or buying another motherboard.

Shut down and/or restart the computer.

When the DELL logo appears, press <F12> immediately.

Now if the computer takes you to the BIOS we are half way there. Key board is working, motherboard is working, and USB port is working.

When the boot device list appears, highlight CD/DVD/CD-RW and press <Enter>.

1. Select the Boot from CD-ROM option from the menu that appears and press <Enter>.

2. Type 1 to start the CD menu and press <Enter> to proceed.

3.Select Run the 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics from the numbered list.

Other wise, save and exit after step 2.

If the above (first 2) steps works, you may want to go forward.

The next part is tricky.

Get hold of a working computer with internet. open google. In the search box type puppy linux. download the latest version. It will be an iso file. Simply burn it to a CD.

Put the CD in it your computer drive (power on. immediately press the eject button of your CD Rom drive . Put the CD in . The computer boots from puppy linux. It may come up with 2 or 3 questions. Just answer yes to the default selections. If the system completes booting, you will see a perfectly usable OS. You can possible check anything you want, if you successful in getting this done.

I wanted to changed my laptop from windows vista home premium to windows xp professional. So xp installed fine then i had a set of drivers for xp which i had downloaded for Lenovo 3000 N200 AFU, SO i ran...

Whenever you are using the basic installation CD for windows XP, it seems like it does not have the driver for your hard drive on this CD. if you go to:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67897.html

there is a walk through on how to do so and the driver to download. If this laptop does not have a USB floppy drive, you can also download all the drivers and use a program called Nlite that makes unattended installation's which you can copy the installation CD to your hard drive, put your windows key into the installation where you dont have to type it in, and put all drivers you need into the CD so that when it gets done installing you dont have any issues with no hard drive showing up, or have to install any drivers except for printers or scanners if you copied them all.

fb.gif Replacing a Laptop Keyboard and Mouse
Buying Laptops Computer Repair Replacing PC Parts Copyright 2007 by Morris Rosenthal All Rights Reserved
Copyright 2007 by Morris Rosenthal -All Rights Reserved contact info How to replace a Notebook Keyboard and Mouse with USB Adapter When your laptop keyboard fails, you can usually buy a replacement for somewhere between $60 and $120, but putting it in is a real bear, and given the current prcies laptops have fallen to, it's tough to justify as well. When you own the same notebook computer for as long as I have, the pointing device, be it a pad or an intellipoint thingy, is going to fail. Laptop keyboard life is also somewhat limited compared to regular keyboards, hair winding around the works is a big problem, but I'd hate to encorage folks with limited mechanical skills to go prying off their keys because it takes some skill to get them back on. So, most notebooks have a PS/2 port to allow for an external mouse or keyboard, but few have both. You can try a PS/2 splitter if you can find one, but the more elegant solution is a USB to PS/2 adaper, shown at right. usb1.jpg USB Keyboard and Mouse Adapter
usb2.jpg Computer End of USB Cable
The USB to PS/2 adapter comes equipped with a standard USB input, the rectangular shaped connector (left). The other end sports two PS/2 ports, green and purple, green is for mouse, purple is for keyboard. You don't have to use them both at the same time, but for a notebook with a failing keyboard and pointer (Ahem) it's a good solution. Windows has had native support for USB mice and keyboards at least as far back as Windows 98, I wouldn't bet on '95 as all the USB support was sketchy. The point is, as long as you're using WIndows 98 or later, you don't need any special software with the USB to PS/2 adapter. So, what's the big deal about installing a USB adapter that I did a whole page about it? Try it when the laptop CD drive has failed:-) The CD drive on my notebook went south over a year ago and I never got around to replacing it because I figured with a failing keyboard and mouse, I should be looking for a new notebook. The solution is to actually install the USB to PS/2 adapter on another PC with the same version of Windows. Then, install it on the notebook, and every time Windows looks for a driver on the CD that doesn't work, point it to the A: drive instead, go to the other PC and copy the reqired file onto a floppy, and do sneaker net. It may have taken 20 minutes, but it's a once in a lifetime job, so it was worth it.

Don't replace anything without troubleshooting first! Thinking about doing this for a living?
In case you're wondering, if you want to install real software, as in programs that won't fit on a floppy, onto a notebook with a dead CD drive, you can buy an external USB CD for much cheaper than a replacment drive for the notebook. Installing the software from the USB CD can be just as much fun as above, unless they provide the drive on a floppy, you'll have to install the software on another PC with the same OS first and then bring the required files over one at a time as Windows asks for them. You can use a Jump Drive instead of a floppy, though it's the same amount of work. BTW, I know I use laptop and notebook unterchangably, it's habitual, not intentional:-)

Good Luck, Please dont for get to Vote.Thank You.
