A pinless (Pentium 4) processor has no pins.
Just a flat bottom with around an extra 297 connections to the motherboard.
You cannot fit one to a pinned socket.
Hope this helps

P 4 which is best pinless or pinned

As long as you secure it, it really doesn't matter. I prefer the pinless because with the pinned processors, it can be very easy to accidentally bend 1 pin and if it is slightly off alignment it might not fit into the socket.

How to recognise a pin and pi nnless processor

A pin Processor has metal pins on the bottom of it.

For an example let's use an Intel Pentium 4 processor, that fit in a Socket 478 processor socket.

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_4/TYPE-Desktop%20Pentium%204%20Willamette.html

Viewing the link above, observe the green square under the grayish metallic looking square.
The green square is a circuit board.
(Width and length, about the length of your first digit on your thumb)

The grayish metallic square, is a metal shell cover over a Chipset.
Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_Circuit

The Integrated Circuit here is the Processor.
The Processor is connected to the green circuit board. (PCB. Printed Circuit Board)

On the bottom of the green circuit board are contact pins. In this case 478 of them. (478 pins)

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_4/Intel-Pentium%204%201.7%20GHz%20-%20RK80531PC029G0K%20%28BX80531NK170G%29.html

The tiny metal contact pins fit down into matching socket holes, in the processor socket.

A Socket 478 processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_478

(You can click on the photo to the upper right to enlarge it.

The next design to come out, has the Processor with contact pads, (Pinless), and the processor socket has the contact pins.
An LGA 775 processor socket,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_775

Example of a Pentium Dual Core's bottom side. (LGA 775 processor socket is used),

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_Dual-Core/Intel-Pentium%20Dual-Core%20E2220%20HH80557PG0561M%20%28BX80557E2220%20-%20BXC80557E2220%29.html

There you have it.

A 'Pin' processor has metal contact pins on the bottom.

A 'Pinless' processor has metal contact pads.

Wanted to know what a pin less motherboard is

Actually there are Pin less processors .which fit in the motherboards .
Pin less processors don't have pins . we can fit in motherboard easily.
But, the processors which have pins . takes a bit concentration .because the pins can bend.

All Amd Processors are with pin . and all new Intel Processors are Pin less

Which one is better nd more cheaper, between a pinless nd a pinned processor?? #Urgent please!!

Neither type is better or worse than the other if you're talking about performance (speed). AMD processors have traditionally always been pinned because their socket types require them to be. Intel also used pinned processors as well but since the Core2 and Pentium D lines came out a few years ago, they have ditched the pinned design for something in my opinion that is easier to install. Instead of pins they now have a more flat design with what appear to be receptor-like squares that don't actually physically plug into the cpu socket on the motherboard. With the AMD processors you have to be careful not to bend the pins otherwise it will damage the cpu and in the worst case scenario render it inoperable. Sometimes you can bend the pins back into place.

But in the end, performance-wise they're all the same, you just have to be careful when handling them.

What is pinless prosseser

Pinless processors are the new type put out by Intel. They do not have the pins on them that the older ones had. They basically work on a contact method with is actually much better than the pins in the past.
