I've identified that one of the backlight inverters fried. Is there a good way to make sure it's safe to just replace it?

I've ordered a replacement inverter board. I was able to find a set of them on Ebay for $46 shipped.

The problem could be the inverter board, but it could also be that one or more of the backlanps is drawing too much current thus causing the inverter to fail. backlamps draw more current as they age. Many in the profession also recommend replacing your both the master/slave inverters together in a set!

Thanks, I will do that. Fortunately I have a set of inverters in transit. So I should check to see if there's a short in the back lamp?

Vizio SV47XVT 47inch Screen flickers and makes popping sound through speakers what do I need to replace.

This is a power supply and/or possibly inverter(s) board bad capacitors. Since the audio is affected it could be both. Be aware that attempting to repair it yourself could cause irreparable damage to your TV.

Have a vizio 47" vo47lfhdtv10a,

Hi,

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

Hope this helpout in solving the problem...

I have a 42 inch Gallevia model GV 42L. When TV is initially turned on blue screen comes up for about 2 seconds, it then goes black and a screeching noise comes through both speakers on the TV. No...

The power source has failed - the sound is the source that autooscillates because even its protections have been damaged and are no longer capable of safely shut it down.
It's a big failure so call a repairman, ther's nothing more you can do.

Vizio SV470XVT will not output Dolby 5.1 from optical out..

TV's only will output 5.1 from HD stations. If you have a DVD player, XBOX 360, etc connected through HDMI, then the TV will only send stereo PCM through the optical out.
