SOURCE: main burner too hot & 2nd burner pilot won't

Set t/stat to 250 degrees. If it does not shut off after about 5 minutes, replace t/stat.If shuts off, must be calibrated Pilot may be dirty, flame weak. If flame strong, replace thermopile(pilot generator). If weak, must remove and clean pilot orifice inside pilot.

SOURCE: Vulcan A1990 Model 60XL;

You need to replace the thermocouple for both sides of the oven. That is the most common issue with pilot lights and gas burners. The safety shut off will engage when it does not sense any heat, ie: thermocouples.

SOURCE: I can light the pilot and the burner will come on,

Most gas water heater problems can be solved by having service technician perform yearly maintenance. Or by doing maintenance yourself.
This maintenance includes cleaning burner parts and combustion chamber, checking gas pressure and supply, bleeding air out of gas line, checking vent draft, making sure air supply is adequate and not exposed to chemicals, cleaning air intake. Also adjusting flame sensor so it is positioned correctly. If water heater is connected to electric circuit, the outlet must have correct polarity.

You can get gas to appliance indicates the gas control valve and water heater are not locked out. But the gas control valve thermostat can still be bad.

Open following link for illustrations, typical service manuals, and maintenance information, and images of gas control valve thermostats.

Remove back plate and blow through to remove soot etc from jet and burner. Check spark with back plate off to make sure the end hasn't come loose or broken off.

Kozy world propane wall heater pilot will not light

This can be caused by several things:

1. The inline gas valve running to the the heater is OFF. Turn the valve ON.

2. The gas control knob on the heater is not exactly in the PILOT position. Unless the knob bottoms
out and you feel strong pressure (other than spring pressure) pushing back at you. It's not exactly
in the PILOT Position. Once the pilot lights, hold the control knob in for 30 seconds to 60 seconds
to allow the Thermocouple to full heat.

3. The pilot is dirty and needs to be cleaned, as do the burners.*

4. The LP Gas Tank is empty or to low to maintain te proper gas pressure.

* Here is a link to a demonstration on how to properly clean the pilot & burners.

Heater begain smoking and producing large yellow flames rather than smaller intense blue flame

The problem you're experiencing may be the result of a clogged air intake valve on the burner or the burner has rusted out. In either case, you will need to turn the unit OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank and remove the tank. This way you can safely dismantle the top of the heater to have access to the burner and the pilot assembly. If you need to lay the entire heater down to work on it, be sure to chock the base so that it won't roll around, while you're checking and cleaning the burner and pilot assembly. A shop vac (if you have one) with a hose and brush attachment works well in cleaning the burner. Canned compress air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) will help to blow out the burner and the pilot assembly.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a Model 200209 LP heater. It worked fine one night. Then, about a month later, it would not light and stay lit and I could only light it with a match. After looking closer, I saw that the pilot...

Clean the pilot using a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) and while you're at it, clean the burner, using a brush and the canned compressed air to blow it out. Insects like to build nest in these heaters when they're not in use.

Be sure to turn the LP gas tank OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank, before attempting any cleaning. When you reconnect the hose to the tank, open the gas valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow) until it's fully open. Then light the pilot & hold the control knob in for 30 to 60 seconds, before releasing it and turning it to the ON position.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi, I have an Everdure natural gas room heater and the pilot light has increased in size recently, comes halfway up the heating panels/plates. The heater is also hard to light sometimes.

Mark, Natural Gas pilot flames are fairly long. Usually about 2" to 2 1/2" long. However from what you are describing about the pilot flame licking the ceramic plaques of the heater is not normal. Plus, you indicated that you're having a hard time lighting the pilot. All of this leads me to believe, that the unit needs to be thoroughly cleaned inside and out. Especially, if it hasn't been professionally serviced on at least, an annual basis. Vent-free or Flue-less heating appliances collect a lot of dust, lint, etc when in operation. Because whatever is floating in the household is going to eventually work it's way into the heater and clog things up.

Cleaning the unit is something you can do yourself, with minimal tools. A vacuum cleaner with a hose, brush attachment, crevice tool and a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean you computer with) is all you need. The compressed air with a straw nozzle is used to blow out the pilot tip. this won't be mentioned in the Owner's Manual. http://www.everdure.com/MANUALS/HEATERs/Gas/EC%20&%20ECR%20User%20manual.pdf

I hope all of this will help you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Cheers....

Pilot and Burner shut off at same time at various run times.

sounds like your pilot saftey is working.the pilot flame heats a device called a thermacoupler which gives a signal to the gas valve letting it know its ok to open main valve. you may need a new thermacouple , might have a dirty pilot orfice or a problem with gas pressure or worse case a cracked heat exchanger in any case in less you have some type of training you should call a pro
