SOURCE: Keyboard replacement

Every notebook keyboard that I have replaced is accessed through the top. There is usually a bezel near the hinge that either pops off or may have some screws accessable from inside the battery or other compartment from the bottom. Once the bezel is removed you will see from 2-5 screws holding the keyboard down. Remove those, and gently lift up the keyboard to check the attaching cables underneath. Look carefully at the connectors, some simply unplug others are a ribbon cable that you lift a part of the connector and then the ribbon will come out. Do not pull the cable out!! You may break it if you pull it.

Good luck. I hope this will help.

First of all make sure you disconnect power cord and remove battery. Some screws on the back will be responsible to keep keyboard in place. In HP laptops screws are underneath the battery so you want to look there. Also undo screws form back near LCD at the top and try and take this video may help you Good luck!

How do i remove the hard drive?

Had the same issue, couldn't find a solution on-line, but I figured it out. First remove the battery and the screws underneath it. Then remove all the screws on the bottom of the laptop. Remove the optical device and remove the 2 or 3 screws holding the bezel to the base.

Here's where it gets tricky. There is one more screw under the keyboard, right where the F6 key is. Can't get to it until you remove the keyboard, but there is no obvious way to remove the keyboard.

Pry the case apart a bit and look inside, there are two plastic release cllips that hold the keyboard in. Very carefully retract these clips and remove the keyboard. Then you'll see that last screw. Take it out and you can slide the top bezel out of the way without removing the touchpad cable.

Replace the hard drive and put it all back together.

Hope this helps

HP Compaq nx9010 CD drive replacement

You are correct.
The screws for the dvd drive is under the keyboard.
there should be 2 tabs one above the f4 and the other above f12 take a regular head screw driver put it where those tabs are and gently pull down towards the touchpad and the keyboard should come up easily.
Now under that keyboard in the center you will see a opening and inside that opening you will see 1 philip head screw remove that by turning counter clockwise.
Right below where you removed that screw you will see another opening which has another philps head screw in it.
Remove that screw counter clockwise and the dvd rom should pull straight out with ease.
To put it back together just reverse the steps.
If you need further assistance do not hesitate to ask.

Replacing the keyboard on the acer 7720

remove the two silver colored screws underneath the battery.
Remove the upper part of the lightgrey top (the part with the speakers and the on/off button) which is clicked on.
Probably the backside is the best place to start...

Now you can lift the keyboard and remove the cable by first releasing the connector and pull out the flatcable.
