Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I recently bought a 4Gb USB stick and initially it seemed to work fine. However, one day when I plugged it into my laptop, when I tried to access it, it came up saying following errors, Errors : 1)I cannot format the pendrive.2)when i double click on the removable disk,it says            "Please insert a disk into Drive E : " 3)i used a pendrive format utility but the problem persists again.4)i tried to format it using gnome also, but of no use. The light on the USB stick is on, and I can see it in my computer, but I can not access it as it gives me the same error message. I have tried to google this and I have played around with the drivers in device manager, but to no avail. I am using XP Pro (SP3) and usually have no problems with USB devices.  please help me..without going to service centres. USB DEVICE NAME : Transcend JF V 10 ( 4 GB )

You do not need any drivers in windows for these drives if you are using XP/Vista. These are generic volumes. Try deleting any mention of the driver in device manager and let windows install it automatically. This sounds a lot more that your pen drive is dead. Time for a new one. Can you borrow a friends and plug it in to test the USB port is ok?

Connect some other USB device (keyboard? mouse? memory-stick?) to your desktop?
Are those devices detected? If not, then either:
* the USB port(s) on your desktop are damaged,
* the device-drivers for the USB ports on your desktop are not installed.

Try connecting it to a different desktop/laptop, to see if the Seagate works at all, on any desktop.

Yes there is an option that you can use to restore deleted files. Its called System Restore. You did not provide any information about your Windows version so the procedure may be a bit different.

From XP onwards the System Restore option is found: Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore. You can also access it through Help and Support by typing System Restore in search bar.

Try restoring your Windows to a date where it worked fine. Try the most recent date before you started experiencing this issue.

You should also check if the Magic Jack is working OK by plugging it another PC.

If System Restores fails, its better to backup your data on D: and reinstall Windows than to keep looking for a solution. This will save you time and frustration.

How to get started, hook up my 4GB

If its a usb stick it's usually just plug and play just plug into an available USB port and windows should recognise it .You can export files and folder's etc from windows to the stick by right clicking on what you want to export and click send to removable storage device ,it should have a drive letter assignedto it such as F drive.Good luck John

Just buy a USB keyboard, that should work fine, it seems your PS2 port is faulty or its disabled in BIOS check there.

Cannot transfer photographs from mobile to computer

Most phones these days at the very least have blue-tooth, as mentioned, blue-tooth dongle which sticks into your computer via the USB port makes it very easy to wirelessly transfer files.

Nokia and Motorola phones (speaking from experience) tends to have ‘USB ports’ for connection to the PC via the appropriate USB lead using the manufacturers software, I think Motorola try to charge for it, (though there are other open-source software out there) whilst Nokia is free.

Infa-red. Though I haven’t had a laptop yet that had an infa-red sensor, and I’ve bought some pretty expensive laptops.

Most phones these days have access to the internet GPRS/WAP easy to attach it to an email and send. Although all that data-transferring could become rather costly.

Some phones can automatically upload images to website provided by your operator. I know Orange do this.

You might want to disable the WiFi that is built into your laptop before installing that device. It is very possible that the built in WiFi is conflicting with that Wireless Broadband Device.

If the files you have saved are in the format that the sewing machine will read and the sewing machine has a USB port to plug the memory stick into, it should work.

Your sewing machine manual may have instructions on how to import files.
