What Windows version are you running? I would start by downloading the appropriate driver for your windows. This will replace any existing drivers. If it is a driver issue that should take care of it. If not it maybe an issue with your trackpad.

Two must know usability tips for Mac Laptop users

Here are two general usability tips that every Mac laptop owner must know about. How to simulate a right click with your trackpad, and scrolling through documents much like a scrollwheel. I have long assumed these were common knowledge, but I’ve heard enough complaints and wishes and had to demonstrate them to enough people to prove otherwise. So if you don’t know about these two trackpad features, then you do now, and once you start using them, it’s impossible to go without.
  • Right Click with Trackpad - Hold two fingers on the trackpad while you use the click button
  • Scroll through pages a la Scroll Wheel with trackpad - Place two fingers on the trackpad and move them up to scroll up, and down to scroll down. Works horizontally as well.
If these features aren’t working for you, they are probably disabled. Here is how to activate them:

Note: Several of our readers have pointed out that these tips are not compatible with some older PowerBook and iBook models. However, a program called iScroll2 enables the scrolling ability on these models. Get iScroll2 here. Thanks to all who pointed this out!
To activate these options (assuming they are turned off), go to Apple menu -> System Preferences. Navigate to the ‘Keyboard & Mouse’ preference pane under Hardware. Click the Trackpad tab. Under Trackpad gestures, be sure that “Use two fingers to scroll” and ‘Place two fingers on trackpad and click button for secondary click’ are checked, as shown in the screenshot below. My cursor on my HP doesn't work. don't want to use a mouse.

i'm sure that there's a button to lock the trackpad,it's near the panel.you need to press it once again to turn the panel on
I think it's right above the trackpad
or look on your laptops keyboard for a picture like trackpad press it with the function Fn button at the same time
or it should be the hardware
the trackpad cable maybe doesn't installed properly, not locked or something

Blackberry torch 9980 trackpad has stopped working

Hello,

The problem with the blackberry is that the trackpad is weak and is no longer responding to touch. It could get weak as a result of having a sweaty finger slide across the trackpad for too long. If that is accumulated over time, the track pad will cease to work.

The solution is for you to have the track pad replaced. here is a video of the steps to replacing the trackpad of the phone.

Thank you for using Fixya,

Using the trackpad on my Macbook Pro I cannot drag pics or files about the desktop. And my Preview has stopped working.

Best thing to do is use time machine to restore your computer to a time you knew it was working properly. If you have not backed up using time machine, a good idea would be to reinstall the system to see if things are working properly. it may take a while to reinstall everything, but could be a good process to watch the trackpad and if it corrupts when you install something specific. i know this might sound trivial, clean the trackpad and see if that makes a difference. good luck

did you change the logic board by yourself?
I'm afraid that the trackpad-connector is not properly installed on the logicboard...
then it is not a software issue.. ibook trackpad AppleNova Forums
- but you can use separate mouse on USB:

The trackpad does not work anymore. How can I fix it?

You would need to take the phone apart and replace the trackpad. You can find a trackpad on ebay for about $12-15. If you are interested you can contact us and send it in for us to fix it. If you buy the trackpad yourself we would just charge you for labor, otherwise we would charge you for the trackpad + labor.

Hardware or software?

None of that has anything to do with your mouse. You might want to check your settings for your mouse under the control panel. Sounds like they're switched around. Reply with the version of Windows you have and I will walk you through checking your settings.

Other ideas:
If you use an external mouse (USB) all the time, try the trackpad and see if it works properly. If it does, then you have a bad USB mouse.

If you use the trackpad all the time, hook up a USB mouse and see if that works properly. If it does, you have a bad trackpad.

If both work the same way, then it is software related, and you'll have to figure out what's causing it to act the way it does. Just respond and I'll come up with some things to check.

Trackpad won't work

Possible Operating System corrupt when originally installed. Definitely software corruption of some type. These units are usually preloaded with an image that is used over and over. Sometimes they don't install properly. Last but not least air card may be defective if it causes ame issue again.
