If it's locked, you probably have the hold button on. It's on the top there, little sliding button. If you see red, it's locked. Just slide it so it's not red, it'll be unlocked. :)

If it's locked by way of pin/password, you'll have to jailbreak it. I have someone do that for me. I can't tell you how to do that.

My ipod is screen locked and now as i dont know the password i cant unlock it.since many days ive been tryin so many combinations but still it cant be unlocked. wat am i suppose to do????

Taken from the apple website.

Unlocking iPod

You can unlock iPod in one of two ways:

  • Enter the combination on iPod using the same controls you used to set the combination. If you do not enter the correct combination, the digits onscreen flash red. When you enter the combination correctly, iPod will unlock and return you to the last viewed screen.
  • Connect iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.

If you can't unlock iPod using either of these methods, you can restore your iPod to factory settings. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to iPod.

If you want to change the primary computer that your iPod is associated with, do this:

  1. Restore your iPod. Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
  2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
  3. Open iTunes and synchronize.

I made a password for my 8gb ipod an i forgot the password and he wont let me listen to my songs

that is unfortunate there is really little you can do in the way of forgetting your password. You can temporarily unlock it, but if you cant remember it you will end up having to reset it to factory settings and lose all the data/music that is on the ipod. But you can before restoring it backup your library file. But on some generations of ipod nanos it will save the password. So lets get started.
Connect your iPod to the first computer it was synced with or the computer set as the primary one in iTunes. Open the iTunes application, then disconnect your iPod from the computer, and it should no longer be locked. If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using the iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod. If you can't remember the current combination, the only way to clear it and enter a new one is to restore the iPod software.

If you need further assistance or explanation of the steps listed above please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to assist you. If this assisted you please feel free to rate the solution. thanks and have a great day.-Midwest-Tek

My ipod touch won't let me type in the password, change volume, or even turn off, home button won't work for anything except to play music using outside controls, and i cant restore anything because i cant...

Use the Five Rs to restore the iPod. You will lose the data that is currently on it if you restore but you can always re-sync the data to the iPod. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

Cant unlock ipod

if you forgot you combination code then you have to restore your ipod to factory setting. y Or you can randomly try to unlock it , there are only 9,999 possibilities, If your 'friend' can remember any of the numbers it decreases the number of attempts that you'll have to make. To restore Connect to the computer that you sync with and hit restore from iTunes. Important note :-when you reset your ipod, it will erase all data from your iPod. You'll need to add your song and data again.

Ipod is open but i cant play any song..its lock .What will I do?

"Screen Lock" is provided by the iPod nano, iPod (5G), and subsequently released iPod models. Earlier iPods do not offer this feature.
In the Apple Support Site, Apple notes that the "Screen Lock" function:
Allows you to set a 4-digit combination to prevent someone else from using your iPod while it is not attached to a computer. When an iPod is locked, you must enter the combination to unlock the screen. This feature is different from the Hold switch in that the Hold switch only prevents iPod from turning on accidentally--not keeping snoops out. Screen Lock only locks users out of the user interface. It does not encrypt data on your iPod. For example, if you use Screen Lock and then connect your iPod to a computer, you'll be able to manage music on your iPod with iTunes and access all data on it in disk mode (contacts, notes, and any other files you have stored on the iPod). This support document also provides additional information on locking and unlocking the iPod. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the iPod by doing the following:
Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked. If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Unable to upload songs in ipod

Try restoring your iPod, it seems like that should solve it. Make sure you don't have anything on your iPod you need, because restoring it erases all data off the iPod.
