Question about TruTech PLV16190 Television
My wife purchased a TruTech PLV16190 on black Friday of last year at Target. While changing channels the other night, the picture went out and we can't get it back. Sound still works fine and channels/inputs can be changed. There is just a black screen. This is pretty frustrating, since it hasn't even been a year since we bought the tv and hardly use it. Any help would be appreciated.
Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the board that the power cord is hooked to.If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again. Most of the time the big black capacitor on the power board goes bad,and bottom bulges out,but sometimes it is the other capacitors as well.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

What I found out is target has several manufactures that make the trutech products. I have the PLV16260. I called target @ 1800-440-0680 and was transfered to the electronics dept. They told me to look on the back label of the tv and there is a manufacturer name there. Mine was made by ALCO. Their number is 888-252-6352. I just spoke to them and they said the reason the screen is blank is that it is the power supply board. They informed me that if I ship it to them in Buffalo NY that they can repair it for 135.00. I had a repair person come out and they want over 300.00 to fix it. Shipping it will be a problem for me so I am checking to see if they have a replacement board I can buy and have someone install for me.
The other interesting thing they told me was that even though it is out of warranty - if it was not repairable they would replace it with a current model. It might be worth shipping.I am waitng for them to get back to me.
Hope this helps

This also happened to me, bought on black friday last year also sounds like a big bad batch, any way I called the maufacturer and it had barely been 90 days they said 90 day warrenty was up not their problem take it to repair shop. I couldnt believe there was only a 90 day limited instead of 1 year warrenty but thats how it is and we used it for two months and it sits in the closet, repair would probably cost more than to buy a new one.

The official website for this item is http://1800customersupport.com/trutech. Try emailing them, or call them at 1-888-252-6252. Trutech is the store brand for Target stores, so many different companies make their products. This website isn't the official site for ALL Trutech products, just some of them, like this 19" LCD TV.
