i did all those possible solutions sir./madam....I'm working since 10am Philippine time & now its already 7pm...the best solution for the meantime is the settings that ive posted...all i want now is to get back to my old settings which is thru WPA-Personal & TKIP settings...as of now the signal on my NETGEAR wireless is excellent. But my laptop will de discoverable to other computers if i stay in this set up (No authentication-Open).

One more question..if i maintain with my current settings, do i have a garranty that nobody can access my files? nor infected some virus from other computers?

  • eaf_mir Jan 27, 2009

I did all those process & change all the settings but it wont work wireless...thanks anyway.

Im using my router now in a different setting which is authentication(open) what im worrying about is do i get virus if this is my settings?

    Anyway thanks for helping...

Try removing all security and see if you are able to connect. Plus did you run the cd that came with router? Are you trying to connect wireless? or Lan? Main question is how are you connecting? From modem to router? Setting the router up itself?

If not completely undo every little change effects that have been done, remove all security. erase the wireless profiles from your actual machine that you are trying to connect. and restart the process. I am really for sure for security but i was going to suggest finding the highest level of security your network adapter can support. If this is an older card it will have its limitations,

Hi there are you using this wirelessly? it sounds that the network key on your PC doesnt match to the one that is stored on the router. therefore you will not be able to connect.

hi, did you get a network key from your ISP or is this an alternative router,

    log on to 192.168.0.1

    • The router username is always admin

    • The default password is password
      or (for older routers) 1234
then you should be able to check the settings

if this does not work netgear recommend the following

right try to hardwire the router to the pc using ethernet cable then the webpage will display then you can reset the settings

  • Martin curl Jan 25, 2009

i wouldnt have my settings as open mine are set up as WPA-PSK and then the network key that was generated by my internet provider, as i say i would hard wire it then try to reset the router through the reset button on the back of the router. you can then reinstall and change the settings

I have NetGear (WGR614v7) Wireless Router. 1st thing i couldn't access internet...while making the connection mistakenly i put different WAN IP now i got huge problem. setup wizard in not opening so what...

Using a CAT5 cable, connect your computer to the router, disconnect the power supply from the router, and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Then reconnect the power cord, and open the browser on your computer. Type in the address www.routerlogin.net and press the enter key. This will take to the main setup menu. Set up the router as you wish. To secure your router connection, vist these websites: http://www.labnol.org/internet/secure-your-wireless-wifi-network/10549/ and http://www.practicallynetworked.com/support/wireless_secure.htm. What is the code for netgear WGR614v7 to enter to a laptop for wireless wifi?

Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on your computer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL -
http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = password You can now change the default admin password and configure the wireless settings.
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

How do I resolve my internet port light being amber on my wgr614v7 netgear router

Recommend that you go one step at a time.

1) unplug the wireless router.
2) reset your Cable modem or DSL modem. Wait until the lights show the Wide area network or WAN is working correctly before applying power to the Netgear wireless router.

3) After a minute or so, its signals should change from amber to bright green.

Repeat if necessary. If this doesn't provide the connectivity that you need, a call to your Internet Service provider may be necessary.

NETGEAR WGR614v7 Network Security key

Hi, you need to connect to the routers admin pages to configure the wireless settings and security. Check out this page:-
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101676.asp

When you get to step 6, click the WPA-PSK security setting and it will give you a box to type in a password of your choice, make it memorable but difficult to guess, so a mixture of numbers and letters. I think its a min of 8 characters.
Hope this helps..

I cant connect thru my netgear router model wgr614v7

If you hook your PC directly to the router using an Ethernet cable you don't need the key. You can log into the router and change the WEP Key to anything you want, but u have to be directly connected to the router not going through the wireless.
