This is so called ''snap-on'' butterfly clasp. There is no release mechanism and simple pull is needed to open it. Use your strength on do not worry - it won't brake.

How to exchange leather straps for almost any watch brand

Most of the people are pretty sure that when their watch leather straps are worn out they have to replace them with new ones, made by exactly the same brand as their watch brand is. This is completely wrong. About 95% of all watch brand models can be fitted with leather straps from any watch strap producer without loosing brands identity. All you have to do is: 1. Release the strap from the watch; 2. Measure the width of the strap where the spring bar (pin) goes through and write it down or memorize it; 3. Undo the buckle/clasp; 4. Measure the width of strap in place where the buckle/clasp was fitted and write it down or memorize it; 5. Measure the length of the strap (both parts together) and write it down or memorize it. Now you have everything you need for strap replacement. Visit any shop selling leather straps or even find it on the internet. You will find thousands of different colours, patterns and leather variations. The choice is yours. Just one thing to remember: The strap you are buying must match all the measurements you took of your original strap. This is not difficult to match, as the watch straps usually are made to global standards. When you have your new strap delivered, just fit it to your watch and undo the buckle/clasp that came with it. Fit your old, original buckle/clasp on to the new strap and you are done. Most watch manufacturers impress, engrave or laser engrave their logos on buckles/clasps, not on the leather straps itself. So, when you fit the original buckle/clasp on brand new strap of different make, it becomes the original strap of the watch you own. And nobody knows that the strap is, for example, from Hong Kong, but watch is from Switzerland (except you, of course} as they look together as one nicely designed piece and the buckle/clasp works as the proof of identity. In case if your watch has some unusually shaped fixing for the strap, this shape can be easily cut in to the strap by modellers scalpel. At the very end I just want to remind to all readers: Watch straps sold under watch brand names are 2-10 times more expensive. In fact - they are not produced by watch manufacturers themselves, but in Italy, Germany, China and Hong Kong and then sent to watch manufacturers. Just because these straps were fitted to the watches and the buckles or clasps were added to them, these straps automatically becomes their brand straps and cost a lot, lot more. Hope it helps to save your hard earned money.

How do i adjust the band on the slimline mesh skagen watch

Step 1. On the reverse of the strap you should see a succession of ridges. You will also notice a corresponding ridge on the clasp. Sounds obvious, but once you have decided where the clasp should reside on the strap, you need to align these two ridges.

The reverse of the strap
Step 2. Get a piece of string or ribbon and wrap it around your wrist. Snip the string so that one end meets the other and measure this diameter.
Step 3. On the other end of the strap you will see the hook which goes over the clasp - you will see the next picture. From this hook the measured distance will be where the end of the string lies.
meshtrapmacro12.jpg

The clasp mechanism - the watch is to the right of the picture
Step 4. This is the tricky bit! Insert a small screwdriver into the hole on the main clasp part, from the right hand side and bend it down towards the strap thus opening the clasp. Do not insert a tool from the left side, under the clasp and use the bar as a fulcrum; you will bend this rod and the watch strap will not hook over it. Move the clasp to the desired position and gently locate the ridge nearest the position. Once located, press down on the open clasp until it clicks into place - voila!

The folding deployment clasp on the bracelet/strap for my Tag 1000 series ladies watch has broken. Might a replacement clasp from any of the current tag models fit?

The newer straps on TAG are generally wider than the professional series and the cost of a new genuine TAG heuer clasp or bracelet may easily exceed the costof buying an entire watch of that series used.
I recommend searching for an after-market strap/ buckle usuing your case back numbers as the search criteria.

Mens Versace leather strap. How do I adjust the band ? The watch has a cream face, square in shape, chronograph with a brown elather strap. Clip requires adjusting and cant work out how to adjust..

Well i am going to roll the dice and assume you have one of the ez clasps but if I am wrong you can send the model number and we will figure it out.

To adjust the ez clasp pull up on the front of the clasp loop while pushing down on the band. Rather than the traditional buckle and prong set up, the prong here is underneath the clasp loop.

Hope this helps. Thanks!

Larger clasp

Unfortunately, I do not think this is going to be an easy fix. You may want to take it to a local independent watchmaker. Gucci may sell larger clasps but they may be difficult to find even from them directly. I have looked at the watch you have. It it was solid gold a Jeweler could just make it a touch larger.

Looking at the clasps the options i see is

Have the bangle removed and wear it on a leather strap,
Possibly remove the clasp where it says gucci and have the pins laser welded so that the clasp stays in a fixed position similar to a bangle.
