Check and replace the back-light inverter board. Check the CCFL lams too.

Hi, I have a samsung flat panel tv model UN29F4000, has sound and looks like no picture but if looked at in the dark you can see a faint image. Powersupply board changed with same results. Thanks

Looks like the back lights are not working. The older TV sets had fluorescent tubes, the newer have LED's voor back lighting. I would look there, or visit a repair shop. Or when the TV is old, start saving up for a new one.

I have had my 55" Vision for a year and a half. Today I was watching a movie and the picture went dark and audio stayed on. If I turned the TV off and then back on it would light up with no Vision logo...

Sounds like you have a backlight problem. To verify this, turn on the set and dim the lights in the room. Take a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. If you see a faint picture, you either have a back inverter or a bad backlight bulb.

Can the lamp be replaced for a Polaroid TLX03210B

You likely have a LCD set there which may likely use a back light inside to light the image, get the room as dark as you can and with a flashlight illuminate the screen from a angle, with set on if you can see the faint image on the screen of the program you have a Backlight issue'

1. Voltage not there or not being switched on for backlight.

2. Actual back light bad.

If the image can be seen with a flashlight one of the above is the issue and your "picture will appear very faintly" also suggests this.

Black screen

If its LCD get the room very very dark and turn on--with a flashlight near the screen look closely at the screen to see if you see a very faint image of the picture or not---Most LCD flatscreen's (not Plasma) use what is called a back light to light the screen--light source.

If a faint picture can be seen that way the light is not on.

Gpx 32 inch lcd hdtv has sound but no picture

In a very dark room with set on use a flashlight at the screen--if you see a very faint image of the program it may be the back light this set uses for brightness on the screen.

No picture

Look with the set on in a very, very dark room and use a flashlight to light the screen.

If you see a very faint image of the picture the back light in the set is not on or bad---most LCD sets use a back light to provide the source for brightness on the screen.

Sony bravia black screen audio ok

It is a LCD set and if sound get it in a very dark room and with a flashlight and the set on look to see if you see a very faint image on the screen.

Almost all these sets use a back light system for brightness---an inverter of some type to power the lights---either the back light is bad or the voltage for it is not present or being turned on.

Spots all over screen

We will presume you have a DLP set that uses a lamp of some sort(no brand or model indicated here).

spots or dead pixels are usually a damaged optical light engine--there are ones where more and more appear.

A faint possible reason is dust is inside the optical light engine--seen it a few times but the spots are usually golf ball in size----high pressure air applied to the vents in the engine with set on in a dark room usually clears that up.

Screen is not lighting while laptop is running.

Hook a spare monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop, if okay it means the video card is working fine. The problem is a bad inverter board, "located under the LCD display" or the back light is defective behind the screen, "usually means a screen replacement"

Dell inspiron 5150 dark screen, faint image in background

If it showed a pinkish tint on the screen before it went out it could be the backlite. If you can see a faint screen when you turn the room lights out it chuld be the inverter. Inverters are cheap ... a used one for around $8 on ebay. Try that first. Make sure that you buy the EXACT model that is presently in your laptop.
