Follow this trick to fix infected Laptop:

Disable Unwanted Programs from Running at Windows Startup
Running too many programs at the Windows startup reduces the system performance. To speed up Windows 7, you have to disable the unwanted third-party programs from running at Windows startup.

  • Click Start ' Type MsConfig and press ENTER
  • Click Startup tab.
  • Uncheck the entries of the programs that you do not wish to run at system startup.
  • Click Apply.
  • Do the same for the entries in the Services tab.
  • Click Apply ' OK.
  • Restart the computer when prompted.

To fix this problem instantly use PCFresher system utility.

The is something else running in memory. If the PC boots fine in Safe Mode but not in Normal then the first stop is to look and see if there is Malware. Did this happen right after you installed Tuneup360?

Hi Chad it did not happen after I installed Tuneup360. How ever I have just run a diagnostics and came up with a couple of error reports: 0F00.133C. Msg. Disk No suitable disk media. and Error Code: 4400:011A Msg:SCS1_0.000_DISK_GENERIC_MULTI-CARD. target not ready???

  • Chad Britt Jan 18, 2013

Try to boot it to last known configuration. This should roll back the install of adobe shockwave. I'm not sure why you have having an issue with that. If that doesn't fix it I have two more ideas we can try.

  • Chad Britt Jan 18, 2013

By the way what version of Windows are you running? That will help me tailor what I tell you.

Hi there
"Unmountable Boot Volume." means that the system 32 folder has become corrupt and probably you will have to recover the system.
If you have XP CD for a clean install, you have to change the boot order from within the bios (F2 on boot up) and tell it to boot from CD.
This will change the boot order and allow you to reinstall the OS.
Be warned that you WILL loose data if this is the only option open to you.

Good luck

Looks like your master boot record is corrupted or you have a bad hard drive. Without cd drive there is one option but it is not guarantied it will work. You can acctually make USB flash drive bootable but you need another computer with cd drive and an XP Operating System CD. You can google how to make usb flash drive bootable for XP and it will give you step by step instructions. Or you can borow an external cd drive or take it to pc repair store. Good luck.

When I turn it on the normal boot up screen comes on and shows the LG logo then the ATT logo then it goes blank and says unfortunately settings has stopped and I cant do anything at all on it.

This will have been very likely caused by a recent Windows software update (but it can also be indicative of a hard disk problem). It would help if you indicated which version of windows you are running.

1. Starting Your Computer in SAFE MODE.
If you know how to get to a "safe mode " selection page then go there, select safe mode and start the computer in safe mode. Then once in safe model run a windows "system restore". Don't select the most recent restore point but one that goes back 4 or 5 days prior top when the no start issue occurred.
Then run system restore in safe mode and when finished the computer will restart. Leave it alone for a while and you should get normal windows loading and a message eventually that the system restore has been completed. You may notice at that stage that it is still actively loading software so wait until it has finished and is idle. Then check that you can open your programs normally. If you cannot, and find nothing will open, go back to system restore and select a different restore date than the one you just used and rerun the system restore. You may need to go back to safe mode to do this.

2. Once fixed, and to prevent this problem recurring, go to the windows update page and change the parameters from automatically downloading and updating your system to the requirement for the updates to be downloaded but they cannot be installed without you specifically allowing the install. If you do not do this the system update that caused the problem in the first place will be automatically downloaded and installed again and you will end up with the same problem or worse.
Be very selective with the windows updates you allow to be installed in future since you have had this problem and I would suggest you only allow an update that is nominated as essential but first check exactly what it is as you may not really need it.

Microsoft has been and still is causing many thousands people to have problems with their computers loading windows as a result of some of their software updates and clearly the software people do not know what the implications are for the types of software updates/system amendments they do that cover many different types of computers. They could not even get Windows 10 right when it was released and had to make some significant changes after release due to many problems that arose with W 10.

Hope this helps with whatever version of Windows you are running. If not let me know. If you can get your computer running in safe mode it is a good sign and you can usually recover from there by using the tools available.

My hp tx2 tablet pc turns into safe mode and running so slow

Follow these guidelines:

1. Turn a power-off computer on or reboot a running computer.

2. Quick press the F8 key on keyboard before Windows starts, after hearing a beep sound you will be taken to Windows Advanced Options Menu instead of the normal loading page. If it doesn't work on the first try, just reboot and try again. And Select normal loading option.

Fix windows internal errors and corrupt registry to avoid such types of errors in future. I would suggest to use system utility tool Reginout.

Hi,

It may happen when CMOS Checksom error i.e error may happen due to keyboard failure. Please follow the steps to short the BIOS

> Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battery, remove it & then with the
help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a
screwdriver while turning ON). It will short the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battrey & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

Now, restart the computer in normal mode. If still facing issues then I would suggest a full system recovery.

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Include what type and model of computer and what operating system you are running.

Try using another user account to log in if you have one.
That way if there is a program starting up (like spyware) associated with just his account the other accounts may still work and allow you access to the computer to fix the problem.

Also try safe mode if this is a Windows computer.

You can also go to Start
There is much more detail we can go into but you didn't give any details about your computer, what is it? what operating system? what was the last thing he did, or downloaded before the problem started?

A bad hard drive with a few corrupt spots on it can also cause this. There are detailed tests for hard drives that can show if the drive has an issue. If the drive is really bad you will need a boot CD to run the tests from. Such as UBCD-Win, and there are also some tests on a regular Windows repair /install CD as well.

Disk drive manufacturers such as Seagate and Western Digital also have drive diagnostics you can download for free.

Can't get computer out of safe mode

From Windows Safe Mode click Start / Shutdown and restart the computer. This should start the computer automatically back into Normal Mode.
Note: Many users believe that they are still in Safe Mode because the colors or video may not look correct. Unless in the corners of the screen it says "Safe Mode", you are not in Safe Mode.
If you are rebooting the computer and it is rebooting back into Safe Mode (it does say "Safe Mode" in each of the corners), it is likely another problem exists with Windows preventing it from loading into Normal Windows.

when was the last time your computer worked fine? run system restore and choose a restore point prior to when the issue started. if no restore point is available, open run and enter 'msconfig', go to startup and disable unecessary startup programs. also open the prefetch folder and delete its contents. then restart your system. if it's still slow, i suggest you backup your files and reinstall windows. make sure that you operate the laptop on a flat surface to avoid any ventilation blockage. hope it'll help. good day. =)'

If you can't get into windows normally or into safe mode to try to restore the system back to a date when it worked properly then you'll need to wipe out the hard drive and start the system from scratch.

Can't get to login window

Blue screens are normally critical errors. If you have loaded any new hardware to your computer lately or some software packages you will need to uninstall them.

Try starting windows in safe mode by pressing F8 continuoulsy until you hear a beep. This will start the computer in safe mode and everything will look big on the screen, ignore that for now. While you are in safe mode uninstall anything that you have loaded prior to this error. Be it software or hardware.

If you have not loaded anything recently then try restoring your computer to an earlier time when you know that it was working with now problems.

Once safe mode boots go to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date when you know that the computer was running okay. Once the restore has taken place the computer will reboot. If asked what mode you want to start in choose start windows normally.

Hopefully this will help you resolve your problem.

when the pc is powering up, keep pressing F8 to get into safe mode, and when in the menu select last known good configuration and press enter for a reboot. This should get you running, if not restart again pressing F8, but this time select start windows in safe mode and whilst in safe mode select the administrator account and try doing a system restore to a date before you tried loading the programe, and let the pc re boot, and hopefully you are now ok.
