OK, the pulley I see brings tension on the belt to turn the blades. It normally rides against the back side of the belt. Let someone move the lever towards the engage belt position. At that point the pulley will move away from this last position I see. That would mean that the spring goes away from where I see it now (at the end of the video). There will be a good bit of pulling to get it to where it belongs cause it needs a lot of tension to not let the belt slip. Oh yeah, the belt normally is pretty worn out when this starts happening.

I cant get my needle position to move to the left or the right

The long arm is attached to the needle arm.
1. Move the needle arm right and left with your finger. Is there any resistance? There should be. If not, a spring that is supposed to be attached to the long gray rod has came loose.
2. The spring will be attached so it pulls towards the round cogs (bumpy things).
3. Mechanical sewing machines are very similar. There is a possibility that your adjustment lever has screws came loose.
4. By moving the needle arm back and forth you can monitor what is going on to get a clue of what may be wrong.

NAXA NPB 241 CD player has a spring just laying in there, trying to find out where it's supposed to go.

back right corner once you pop the top. there should be a little plastic hanger there, if there is not, it may have broken off. the spring attaches there and then there should be a small opening that it feeds down into and attaches to another hanger

Diagram of deck belt placement on John deere lx 277

Hi Vicki,

1. The yellow arm sticking up that has two notches in it is supposed to have a spring attached to it. That is what causes the tension. It doesn't look like a spring is attached in the video.

try this link-it will take you to the owners manual and a picture of the belt routing. copy and paste the link into your browser

Engine will not idle. runs very fast. will not run slow.

Don't leave the engine running that way - it can be quickly damaged. There is a "governor" that is designed to keep the engine from running too fast. Take off the hood, find the carburetor and look for the throttle lever attached to it. One end of the lever will be attached to a cable that is pulled by your hand throttle. The other end is supposed to have a spring attached and that goes to the governor. If the spring just popped off, put it back and see if that fixes it. If the spring is broken or missing, replace it. If the spring seems OK, look for debris jammed in the mechanism that the spring leads to. If there isn't anything obviously wrong you will need to take it to a mechanic unless you're prepared to do some deeper mechanical work. Good luck! Please rate my solution if helpful, thanks.

I have tension spring that is disconected inside a toro 824 snowb

That spring will attach itself to just about anything available. So put some hand tension on the idler pulley of the tensioner, and make an arc with the end of the spring, and there should a tab or bolt or post that the spring could attach to.
