First open the "Device Manager" to check for any error messages related to the device and click on "Start" and select "Control Panel" .

Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.

Check the DVD that you are trying to use to and ensure that it is free of dirt and scratches and the proper format compatible with your drive.

Now uninstall any drivers that may be on your computer from previous DVD drives.

Now download the latest driver updates for your DVD drive model from Lenovo website & install it.

Also check on Lenovo website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.

Now restart your computer & check your DVD drive.
I hope issue has been resolved.

I forgot my pc laptop password, i just bypass laptop password by the following steps,

Step 1: Prepare one computer which can log onto Windows with a blank CD inserted in. and launch Windows Password Cracker.
tep 2: Choose "reset Windows local account password".
Step 3: Specify the device (here we tick "CD/DVD", and you can also select "USB Flash Drive" if you connect USB in the Step 1).
Step 4: Click "burn" to start the bootable CD burning.
Step 5: Insert this CD on the computer you can't access to and boot it from CD.
Step 6: You will enter the main interface of Windows Password Recovery. Select the Windows installation and the user account you would like to reset password.

I need to wipe a hard drive clean of os and data and reinstall new info

Have a Operating System disk ready to insert to DVD or CD device. Go to boot menu or boot first menu making sure that your booting from the DVD or CD device as the first boot. Generally this is the Default setting in most machines. Go to BIOS if you cannot access the boot order menu at start up. Tick on boot and select that option second device will be the HD or whatever is noted for your hard drive.
Place the disk into the drive boot and follow the onscreen instructions. John

I have the Netbook and just bought an external DVD so I can watch movies on my flight to England.... Movies play fine, but there is no sound!

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware tab -> Device Manager

Click [+] next to DVD/CD-ROM drives, double-click the drive in question.
In Properties tab, make sure the box is ticked next to
Enable Digital CD-Audio for this Device

Hopefully you'll have sound after this.

I have a hp mini netbook and when i turned it on it started to tick. it was the speakers it was ticking from then bottom. and it gives the hp start screen (blue logo that says HP) then it goes black and it...

Sounds like the hard drive went bad, hard drives will click away when the platters are touching each other.

Take the hard drive out and see if the clicking is still there, if it is the motherboard at that point cause the sound is built onto the motherboard.

If the clicks go away after taking out the hard drive then you know the hard drive is definitely bad.

CD drive clicking sound

Hello my friend please try to insert 2 new CD. and then try to observe the sound if it is still sounds like the weird. Then if you notice that the 2 new CD you insert produce same sound as your old one then i recommend that if you can find computer technician in your place to verify if your DVD/CD Rom is defective or not cause as of now if the 2 new cd inserted produces same sound as your old cd inserted then DVD/CD Rom has something to do its either defective or has a serious problem that needs assistance.

Thank you
