Reassembling blades on hedge trimmer

I pulled the blades off a Ryobi EHT700 electric hedge trimmer because they kept jamming. Seven 3 mm thick washers/ spacers fell out when I got the blades off. Now I'm not sure where the washers/ spacers go. There are four parts to the blades - Ushaped strength bar, blade 1, blade 2 and flat strip. Do the washers/spacers go between blades 1&2 or between U shaped bar and blade 1 ? I cannot find a manual to see how to put it back together.
The main problem was why did trimmer decide to start jamming ? I could not see any worn parts when I removed blades.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

The blades are stuck , i spray my trimmer with wd40 before every use to keep them juicy you should too. also sometimes if you hit a large stick it will put a divot in the blade cause ing it to stick. as for putting it together, find some one who can do it without directions. but when you use them next make sure you soak em good with wd40 or something if you dont i guarantee they will always stick. wd40 willl not hurt any shrubbery, as ive been doing it for years.

Fergusson I'm sure you have fixed your blades by now, but I hate it when in desperation ya turn to the internet only to have someone waste your time with a non answer. When putting your blades back together, the small bolt and spacer stay together, going back into the side of the blade with the slot. The nut goes on the other side, snuggly. This way the slot and the control of the blade are controlled by the spacer. The inside cam and these spacers control the blades back and forth motion.

I have a petrol hedge trimmer TRY26PHTA. The engine will start fine but the blades will not move

If the engine starts 'fine" then it has not seized.

Many, if not most, hedge trimmers are , for safety, equipped with a "CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" between the engine and the blade to prevent blade operation unless the engine is at full RPM.

IF your machine is so equipped, it's possible that the clutch is worn and slipping so badly that the blade can't move.

I need a manual for a Ryobi RHT500R Electric Hedge Trimmer 500 Watt - 55cm

I found the manual for the Ryobi hedge trimmer here: fr.ryobitools.eu/local/uploaded/catalog/e_RHT500R-600RL_UM_UK_v1.pdf . The bolts you describe hold the blade to the hedge trimmer's motor. They shouldn't have come loose. However you can check if any of the bolts are loose or have backed out of the motor.

I would suspect either a part of the branch is stuck between the blades. I have one of the small edge trimmer which gets noisy when I get a woody weed stuck in the unit. Unplug the trimmer and look at the blade for some bark stuck between the layers. On each side there are multiple blades that overlap at parts of the cutting cycle.

A parts diagram for the RHT500R is available here: http://www.magic-parts.co.uk/acatalog/Ryobi_RHT500R.php .

II hope this helps.

I Have a 26 cc ryobi hedge trimmer. I cannot find any where to oil the thing. I've just been oiling the blades. I know its a 2 cycle but shouldn't there be some where to oil the blades other than dir

check to see if there is any holes in top or bottom of bar to grease or oil, if not there should be screws on bar to remove cover to gain access to blades, also on bottom of engine there is a cover useully with 2-3 screws holding it in. remove cover to grease gear mechanism, do not remove gears inside.

Electric hedge cutter, blaDES STICKING,hit them and they go again, plenty of power in the motor but blades sticking getting worse all the time

Could I suggest maybe using some dry lube on the blade surfaces, such as graphite or anti-seize compound? It can only help. I also recommend maybe a close inspection of them to identify the bind point and why they are binding at that point.

I have a 14 in. electric chain saw I bought last year and need to download a manual

A hedge trimmer is a type of agricultural or garden tool. And as the name suggests, it is used to trim hedges. There are mainly two types of hedge trimmers - manual and electrical. Amongst these there are some below mentioned variations.

Stand Alone: A stand alone hedge trimmer could be either power driven or manual. The power driven stand alone hedge trimmer uses gasoline or electricity to operate. However, the manual or hedge trimmer driven by human force is best when you consider environmental factors. They are cheaper and easy to operate. Generally gas powered hedge trimmers or electrically powered hedge trimmers are equipped with safety devices. The mechanism is such that they operate only when the operator has both his hands on the handles.

Tractor Mounted: This type of a hedge trimmer is more suitable for pruning of plants and crops. Tractor mounted hedge trimmers either have a movable arm or they do not have a movable arm. The ones without movable arms depend only on rotating blades on a couple of central pivots placed on the tractor's side. Now, these hedge trimmers are best for growing grapes, more specifically for making wine. Small tractors driving between the grape vines are mounted with these type of hedge trimmers, without a movable arm.

Well, this was about hedge trimmers in general. Now lets get down to business. Here's a low down on a few best hedge trimmers. The following is an overview of electrical hedge trimmers comparison.

Hedge Trimmer Reviews

Stihl Hedge Trimmer HS81T: Well, this one is surely up for grabs. Stihl HS81T is a great option for keeping your hedges in a perfect shape. Stihl HS81T is lightweight with balanced design and low vibration levels. It has 24 inch or 30 inch double sided blade length. It's also equipped with rear swivel handle for enhanced comfort at different speeds. The engine power is 0.7 kW and this hedge trimmer weighs between 5.2 kg and 5.4 kg, depending on the blade size. It is good especially for shaping and sculpting your hedge. It does not start on the first pull sometimes, still Stihl is a good option for hedge trimming.

Black & Decker NHT518: Now you would perhaps love this, if you do not want the whole baggage of fuel and electric wires and so on. It is cordless and runs on a battery and 22 inch blades that give a smooth and level cut. It does a neat job of branches less than 1/2 inch thick and you get optional extra battery packs. However, it gets a thumbs down from users with regards to poor battery life. On the other hand the users like the cordless design. Again, they say that it is not as powerful as corded trimmers. Nevertheless, it is lightweight and makes minimum noise. So you can go for it.

Echo HC-150 Petrol Commercial Grade Hedge Trimmer: Well, hopefully most of the users would echo my statement that, Echo is a very efficient hedge trimmer. This is a high performing, commercial grade hedge trimmer powered by petrol. It is a smooth and **** free hedge trimmer and is great for pruning and trimming. Durability is apparently the forte of this Echo hedge trimmer. Superb double reciprocating blades cut on their return and forward strokes, which give a smooth, uniform finish to your hedges. Not a bad choice either!

Makita UH6350 Electric Hedge Trimmer: This is a well designed tool with a great cutting action, according to a magazine on mechanical products. It is light weight and can deal very well with branches upto ½ inch of diameter. Although one of the disadvantage is that you have to bear with a cord and has a single blade operation. A fairly good option if you are thinking of buying a hedge trimmer.

Well, there you go, this was a small list of best hedge trimmers. I hope the hedge trimmers comparison was useful for you.

Take your pick according to your requirements and any hedge trimmer is good so far as it helps you keep your plants in good shape! What say!

Ryobi 18V Hedge Trimmer Blade Question

I use a dremel with a sharpening stone, if u don't have one you can also use a power drill with a small sanding disk (1 inch) and course sand paper (30 or 40 grit). or you can use a bastard file. its too tight to use any kind of angle guide so just take your time and do it by eye. it shouldn't take much to get them sharp enough to do the job, over-sharpening is unnecessary and dangerous, and will make the blades dull faster. sharpen all the free blades, top and bottom, then start the trimmers to advance the blades to free up the sides you couldn't get. i use a light penetrating oil to clean the blades first, then lithium grease spray to lubricate.
