Need free owner's manual for a Detrola record player Model KM837

The piece that attaches to the arm that turns the turntable on has come loose and I need a diagram to show me how to put it back in order to get my turntable to work. Can some one please help?

Unable to follow what is wrong.
are you talking about the tonearm or a lever at the power switch?

You have probably done this, but I had same problem on one I was given with no manual. I couldn't get the turn table to turn and by accident I move the arm to the right, away from record and it began turning. Hope that helps.

Can i use a crosley stylus in my detrola km837 record player

Stylus will only fit into certain cartridges. You have two options here. You can look up the cartridge number and make on your Detrola. It should be on the cartridge somewhere. Then search for the stylus. Or you can remove the Detrola cartridge and fit a new cartridge and stylus. As long as the cartridge will fit into the arm of your deck, plus it's the right type - ie: magnetic if the old cartridge was magnetic! Or ceramic - again if the old cartridge was...
Then you can use any make or model cartridge you want. As the quality of the sound can be improved - albeit paying more money for it - by having a good quality cartridge and stylus, it might be best in the long run to change the cartridge.

No sound coming from turntable

Things to check:
1. is cart connected to arm, or are wires loose?
2. Is turntable connected to rest of system, or are wires loose?
3. Did this ever work, or is this a new connection? If new:

A. Does rest of system actually have a 'phono" input? If not, you may need a "pre-amp" to boost phono signal.

Record player repair

The top arm that swings over the spindle will control the automatic return. Leave the unit off. Swing the overhead holding top arm over and manually load a record. Now switch the top arm over the niddle spindle. Make sure that the switch is set for 7", 10" or 12" (45, 78, or 33). Manually place the tonearm at the start of the record and flip switch to 'play' (not reject or auto). It should play the whole record and automatically eject at the end and then shut off. Leave the arm swung over the middle after you loaded the record. Good luck. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I have a califone 1430k record player, and the arm is loose. It looks like the spring must have come loose. It is still attached by wires, but nothing else. If I take it apart, do you think I could fi

The arm should have a pin through it that secures it to the bracket that is attached to the arm bearing. There should be a long spring that is used to adjust the tracking force and it is underneath the arm.
The arm can be taken off by taking the player apart, unsoldering the wires from the arm and unscrewing the nut on the turntable bearing.
Because the arm mounts to a soft rubber grommet it should feel a little loose.
Hope this helps.

Detrola record player

Lots of Turntable belts are very much universal. If they are the same size there's no reason to think it won't work on another make.

Very often a small belt has fallen off or broken. A look inside should locate it. To find a replacement belt, just measure the diameter of the old one in MM and then put the words "drive belt --MM" into Google. Select the size close to yours.

Detrola record player wont spin, even after moving arm to far right.

I suggest you lift up the turntable matt and see if you can see a belt, which has either broke or come off. You might need a new belt!

Tonearm lifter in UP position - how to fix

I have also had this problem with the same model turntable. I opened mine up and the problem seems to have been that the grease on the arm lift and cueing lever was gumming up the linkage between the two. (I suspect that my turntable hadn't been used in some time.) I managed to free up the parts by manually working the the arm lift (pressing it down) several times. I'm not sure that I needed to open up the chasis for this fix but it did help me to see what was going on. Good luck with yours.
