Did you migrate Quark from your old computer to your new computer? It probably won't upgrade if it doesn't see the prior version.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: active window goes inactive by itself

A lot of people are experiencing similar behavior due to bug in Stuffit, if you have it installed, go into System Preferences -> Stuffit -> Disable AVR. I only mention this because it has been the prevalent cause this week.
If that isn't your issue, Then...

If that doesn't help, try booting into Safe Mode and see what happens, if it comes up hopefully another restart may solve, if not, you can at least use this as a starting point to try and resolve. Safe Mode will allow you to get around, surf, etc...

If Safe Mode comes up alright, I would install AppleJack, excellent troubleshooting article can be found here... Troubleshooting Tools: AppleJack

Another excellent free tool for performing maintenance is Onyx (be sure to download the right version for your system). Install the package, then run it, it will check your drive and the structure, after this, click on the automation tab and check on everything for Maintenance, Clear Cache, Cleaning, and check on Reset -> LaunchServices database and Mail's Envelope Index. When it completes, restart. Repeat any time something seems flaky, if not try to run at least once a month.

SOURCE: How do I get an iMac running lion to read the

You may need to set the preference so the disk shows up on the desktop. First click on the FINDER icon. THat is the icon in the dock that looks like a smiley face. Then click on the FINDER menu in the upper left corner and choose PREFERENCES. There are several check boxes, make sure you check the one for CDs. Your disk might appear on the desktop.
If there are other problems you can also download the driver and software for your model directly from brother.

Why does "Quark Express Demo" overprint my documents?

Because you have a demo version of the software. Purchasing and installing the real thing will make "Quark Express Demo" disappear.

How does windows 7 performance on mac pro book i7 processor?

Hi George. What is ios lion 10.7?
ios is what is in iPhones and iPads.
Macs run Mac OS - not the same thing at all.
As for boot camp, you should find that Windows runs just as well as it does on a PC. When a mac is running windows it's a windows PC.
There are many anecdotal reports that windows runs better on a Mac than it does on all the but the most expensive PCs/

I'm getting a new iMac computer with Lion operating system. Will my Spyder2 (purchased in 2005) work with this? If not, can I download an upgrade? Thanks.

In short, NO. Spyder 2 uses Rosetta to run on a Mac, and Lion doesn't support Rosetta.
I had to **** it up and buy a Spyder 3. The plus side is that I can use the Soyder 3 to calibrate my IPad as well as the Mac.

Will Virtual PC for mac v7 work with an new iMac (Mac OS X, Version 10.5.7)?

Basically, if your new iMac has the new Intel processor (or any Intel based processor Macs) your Virtual PC v7 will not work on it. It is designed for iMacs/Macs that are not Intel Based machines (that run on the Motorola processors like the G3, G4 lines, etc).
All Intel based iMacs/Macs are capable of running Windows using a Dual boot startup that is available at the Mac Store or online. Check the Apple website for instructions, they are always updating the software. :)

Problem with our Apple Macs shutting down

A quoted suggestion from my Mac Guru: "They need to turn off the Energy saver preferences for processor cycling and hard drive spin down. They would actually be better off turning them down anyway since the G5 duals run really hot and aren't the most reliable model Apple ever shipped for motherboards failing."

As for the iMac 99, It would be more helpful to know what OS the unit is running. I remember hearing a story about a disgruntled employee putting the 'shut down app' in the start up items folder. This caused the Mac to start as normal and then shut down after the startup was complete. Try starting up the machine with the extensions off. 'Hold down the shift key at startup'
