Question about Compaq CQ2103WM-B (884962083048) 17 in. PC Desktop
The initial startup has " press F1 for setup" I tried to press F10 with no results. I then press f1 and the program ask for a password?
At some point someone installed a BIOS password on your PC. Open CPU >move Jumper 2 2-3 pstn from 1-2 >start PC >Go to BIOS >clear it >turn off>move the jumper back to the original position. Restart PC. Be careful you have touched bare metal before touching anything on the motherboard. You don't want to zap it with static electricity.

What have you recently plugged in as new hardware ? this F1 response indicates that a piece of hardware is not properly configured to run , and F1 is the offered option to go to CMOS to complete the installation.A most likely item will be a USB powered piece of hardware.

SOURCE: Won't pass startup bios / screen
tap the f8 key as you boot up... it should give you a few choices... boot to safe mode or remove the video card and boot up.... if it boots with no problem it is a compatability issue with the card

turn of your computer..
unplug all the cables...
press and hold down the power key which is on your cpu for atleast 5 - 10 secs..
after that ..please connect the power cable.. mouse.. key board. monitor and your internet cable..
and then restart your computer..
when you restart your computer keep tapping the f1 key (i hope this is for bios)..
restore to default over there.. press enter to save.. once done this would automatically reboot..
this should fix this problem...
please post your answers.. or comments...

You may be able to purchase a system disk from Compaq, otherwise, try any generic XP disk. It won't have any Compaq drivers, but at least you can reformat the C: drive and get XP on it.
