SOURCE: Dell Precision 490 constant reboot after ghost image completed

Hello-

I figured out how to ghost a Dell Precision 490 with a 32 bit Windows XP Image! Like you I had the same problem where it would constantly reboot after I imaged it with an existing 490 image. The answer is actually very simple. Boot up your Precision 490 and hit F2 to enter the bios. Select Drives and then SATA Operation, change it to "Raid Autodetect / ATA". Reboot the 490 and re image the machine, it will now work!

If you are getting no video at all, then we can use the diagnostic LEDs and the power LED to help determine the failure.

Our Schneider Altiver 71 drive power board was damage. Can we repair that part?

Eh, The power board is modular in design and as such is easily replaceable. Repairing the failed component, may get it running again, but it is hard to tell whether the life of the other components have been compromised. Check you warranty coverage. In the least, if you buy a replacement, you should be able to get a warranty with it, in case issues arise again. Try to determine if the failure was due to incorrect voltage or overheating. Your unit is equiped with thermal protection. See if perhaps that protection failed and caused the damage to the power module.
Good Luck!

Can I use a thermal fuse from Radio shack in place of the FL231 micro fuse? the thermal fuse has a 250vac with a max current of 10a?

I wouldn't. Fuses that expire must be replaced with the same type and rating as the original otherwise your safety may be compromised.

Hot tub heats from 85 to 98, then E05 message. Max setting is 104. It's run for 2 years with no issues getting to 102-104. I have the Pentair manual, troubleshooting chart, but wanted to see if anyone had...

Could be the temp sensor about 50-60 bucks, the book will say the board about 350-500 bucks. Try the temp sensor first. If it's reading over what the water is then that is probally the problem.

3 red lights flas when power is turned on

You have what is known as the xbox Red Ring Of Death aka... RROD.

If you are the original purchaser - Microsoft is fixing them for free (but you will be without your XBox for about 6 weeks.)

Basically - the RROD is from not enough thermal compound between the heatsink and processor. It overheats and goes into 3 light error mode.

There are sites that will fix (for a fee) and even videos on YouTube that describe how to fix it yourself if you are inclined to do that.

It entails opening up (and voiding your warranty) the 360. There are so many hidden screws and latches - it is imperative to find a video or step-by step instruction on opening it properly.

I would suggest sending in to Microsoft so your warranty is not compromised.

Otherwise - see THIS SITE for step by step instructions on opening, cleaning, and replacing the thermal compound.

Other places can be found simply by googling "RROD FIX" or try YouTube and look at some "RROD FIX" videos.

Power loss then surge GE JE 1860 Microwave

Well it does appear that you have an intermittent problem. I do not think that there is a loose ground problem, but there is a thermal switch attached to the case of the magnetron that resemble the thermal switches in wall gas heaters. Like the one in wall heaters they tell the heater when to shut off and on. If that switch begins to open or is trying to open it will make it seem like your microwave wants to shut down. Of course that is just one solution which I think is the best. By the way that thermal switch only has two wires that go to it and resembles an oversized watch battery when it is out. What could cause that also is if those two wires which are connected with plugin spade terminals have become loose due to the vibration of the magnetron over the years. To cover all your bases at once, with the power off, take the cover off and reseat all the spade connectors that you can see and get to. Anything in line with that switch or with the power coming in at all can cause the same thing. Let me know if there is any other question that you have.
