Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook
The laptop screen has not worked for some time. I can plug a monitor into it and that works. This was my fathers computer and when he first encountered this problem, he says if he pressed on the back of the screen in the right spot (somewhere around the upper right corner.), it would work again but only while you were holding it there. I can't seem to find this spot tho. any help would be great as I would love to free my laptop from the external monitor.
Laptop LCD screens use a type of ribbon cable, after time from opening and closing the laptop that cable becomes worn and I believe in this case disconnected. When pressure is applied in the right spot the cable makes contact and seems to work. unfourtunately, the cost to fix this would be about $700. I had 2 years experince support HP laptops and that was the price to fix any issue involving the LCD. Theres a possibility you may be able to take it to a local comuter store to get a quote on the repair cost, beleive me, this is not something you want to attempt to take apart. But I'm not sure I would call this a solution :(
