Cect i9 contact recognition problems

I recently bought a cect i9 and all of my contacts are stored in my sim card. my problems is i live in australia and found out that when i recieve incoming calls, the phone number is recieved as 04xxxxxx, however SMS's are recieved as +614xxxxxx. now most phones distinguish between these numbers so either way the contact will be displayed in a call or SMS, my i9 can only tell one or the other, NOT BOTH. so if the number is saved starting with +614, an SMS will recognise the contact but not a phone call, and vice versa. does anybody know of any settings that i can change or any solutions to have it recognise both SMS and calls?

I just bought one today and noticed the same thing.

So far the only way I've found around it is to "Copy" the contacts from your Sim to your Phone. (So they're saved in both places), Then go through and edit one lot of the numbers.

Eg:
Saved to Phone as: +614 ********
Saved to Sim as: 04 ********

This means having the same person saved to both the Sim and Phone.

Hope this makes sense and helps, its the only thing I could think of to do and is working for me.

Let www.sciphonesettings.co.uk take the pain out of configuring your Sciphone/CECT handset to enable GPRS, WAP, MMS and Webmail. You could be surfing the web and sending/receiving multimedia messages within 24 hour.
They supply setting to Austrailia too.

Go to this website www.i9forum.co.uk register and check the forum out for a solution, I've had a quick look but its mainly about mms & gprs. If this is what your after the settings the instructions are there on how to set it up.
I'm with Telstra 3g and have the new sciphone i9 3gs and it works great.

Cect i9 not working

Take the battery out, towards the bottom left are 2 slits (sim one and two)

The **** closest to the back is sim2 which the card goes in with the gold chip facing you, the other **** next to it is sim one, with chip facing away from you

This phone is NOT 3G compatible (it's just it's name ...) if your Tmobile card is 3G it will not work. All CECT phones are factory unlocked !

Cannot put pictures with phonecontacts i9 sciphone

no app is needed, in order for pix to show up when an incoming call comes in. (your contacts must be added to the phone memory, not from sim) using a cect cell you can also add more info when storing in phone (biz#, email address and home #) as to just name & # (sim)

hope this help you, feel free to rate

Cect i9 caller id does not show names

let me give you an eg:

i stored an number 984802338 in my mobile with name jhon in my sim, when he calls me up it doesnt show the name.

It is because when he calls me, i observe the number it starts with +919848022338 so it is quite different from the number(9848022338)  you stored in the sim so you caller id doesnt show his name and shows as new user.

so 9848022338 is quite different from +919848022338(here +91 is country code)
