How to clean the filters for an ATAG domestic cooker hood

Have just moved moved into a new house and the washable removable filters on the cooker hood are full of grease. I have put them in the dishwasher them on the hottest setting, soaked them in concentrated detergent and hot water and brushed them with a fine brush but grease is still there. Does anyone know the solution or have any more ideas e.g. can I try caustic soda (the edges of the filters look like aluminium but I don't know what the filters are made)

SOURCE: Neff cooker hood

the manual i have says that the charcoal filters inside need changing about every 6 months. take out the grease filters then you should be able to turn it and take them out. you may not have these if the extractor vents to the outside. the grease filters can be cleaned with a neutral detergent and then put back in. Make sure the electric is off before you do any of this. Hope this makes sense and helps!

How to clean washable filters?

To clean the washable filters you need few things like a stool, screwdriver, brush for cleaning, vacuum with attachments and running water. Cleaning the air filters regularly will keep you away from different type of allergies which are caused by fungi, molds and bacteria.

How do you clean the filter?

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

Many units nowadays include a washable reusable filter. If your unit's filter is washable, it is very easy to do so.

First, start by unplugging your unit before removing the filter. Make sure not to use your unit without the filter this can permanently damage your vacuum. After removing the filter, you may want to step outside to gently tap off the dirt from the filter and avoid the dirt to be spread inside your house. Using cold-lukewarm running water, rinse the outside surface of your unit's filter, do not use soap. Allow your filter to be air dried for 24-48 hours before placing it back into your vacuum. Using a damp filter may also damage your unit.

If your filter is NOT washable, it will be adversely affected if you wash it and it is better if you replace it instead.

You can purchase direct your replacement filters from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

HI, I have lost my manual and just want to know how to clean all the filters. Are the hepa filters washable? thanks, Marcia

Hepa filters are not washable. They must be replaced with new ones. You can order new ones from the manufacturer or buy them from the retailer you purchased the unit from.

How many filters does a dyson dc07 have

Hi there, the DC07 has 2 filters. A pre motor washable filter and a post motor filter which will be either a simple pad (like thick cloth) or a Hepa filter (about and inch thick with a plastic housing). The post motor filter should not be washed but the pre motor filter can. As a technician I would recommend replacing every couple of years for best running of your vacuum. The post motor filter is under the clear bin, you can lever the cover off with a small flat blade screwdriver. The washable filter is to the right of the post motor filter inside a removable housing.

My DC08 dyson doesn't seem to have the suction it used to have, is there anything I can do to get it back

Poor suction is almost always caused by a blockage of some kind. You need to check all the pipes and hose, and remove any obstruction. You also need to check the filters - particularly the washable filter - and make sure they're clean. If you wash the washable filter, it's vital that you follow the instructions about drying it - if you use it when it's even slightly damp it can clog badly. If in doubt, get a new filter.

Noisey DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum; lack of suction...

Hi there it's SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. It is very likely you have a problem in the radix assembly or the filter is actually worn out. Basically to test either simply remove one then turn it on to test. If it runs better with out the filter (washable is most likely culprit) simply purchase a new one. If it is the radix assembly that is the problem it is possible to clean inside the little tubes by taking off the top and literally clearing dirt and fluff out with the help of a coat hanger. Alternatively a new one can be purchased. If you are in Australia or New Zealand I can help you with either part. Just put in a request via the email link n our website. Hope this helps regards Alec

How do I remove the washable filter to clean it on my Dyson bagless vacuum?

As you are looking down at the base of the machine (viewing from the front) you will notice a yellow button on the right side just inside of the the wheel area. push up the button to release the casing that holds the hepa filter and the spongy filter. You can see a diagram on your machine which shows this process. After you take the casing from the machine, the round housing which houses the 2 filters will come out of this casing as you pull it off. You can grab the spongy filter and pull it our of the casing. Rinse both filters as shown in diagrams on the side of the casing. Do not use soapy water, just warm water and squeeze out the spongy filter after each new soaking. Let the filters dry for 12 hours and then replace in your unit and enjoy the refurbished air movement. It does suggest that you clean these filters every 6 months.

Am buying a Bosch cooker hood - does it come with filters?

filters required only if you are venting inside your house (ie recirculating the air), if it is going outside, then you don't need them.

Filter doesn't look clean after rinsing

It could well be that your Dyson is blocked elsewhere. Check the pipes, especially the feeder channels and the air way inspection channels on the Dyson as well as the main dirt channel after the rolling brush bar. Also brush clean the shrouds on the inner cyclones as these get notoriously clogged.
If the filter is washable it wont come up white like new unless you try a stain detergent like a pre stain remover. It would have to be heavily diluted as water is really the only way of cleaning a Dyson filter, but it also has to be of the washable type; Dyson produce a few filters, but some are not washable. EBay usually have good cheap replacements available but I'd check the first points first of all before filter replacement.

Washable filter is getting clogged with dog hair

I have a Dyson Animal Absolute and a rescue white american eskimo dog and two tabby cats.

We found white hair on top of the washable filter and called Dyson to fix it. There shouldn't be anything on that filter.

The Dyson rep said:

Check the black rubber seal that surrounds the "cyclone" holes as it may need to be pushed down because it isn't sealing properly.

To do this remove the cannister and dump out the stuff in there. Do it outside so the fluff doesn't circulate in the house.

Turn the entire filter part upside down so you can see inside.

Check the seal that is at the bottom of the entire filter part and look at the two half moon "nozzles" that **** up the dirt.. now make sure the black rubber band that surrounds those two nozzles is either up or down... do this then vacuum a bit.. check the washable filter to see if it is clean...make sure the rubber seal actually is sealing.. it should just set into place once you have it done properly.

Now if this doesn't fix it, call Dyson, the number is printed on the front of the machine.. and give them your serial number which is located behind the removable cannister. The machine has a 5 year warranty.
