How do I wire in a amp meter please

amp meters are wired in series in a power circuit
that is to say cut the wire and attach each end of the wire to the terminals of the amp meter
you have to know the amps in the circuit to get an amp meter large enough to read the current or it will burn out
( a 60 amp meter for a 120 amp power wire is not right)
in that case you can get an amp meter that runs a resistance in the back of the unit and as volts and amps are directly related by reading the voltage drop across the resistance the current (amps) can be read
That allows a small amp meter with a high face reading to be attached to a large current wire 10000 amps etc
you can also get amp meters that have a crab claw clip that goes around the power wire and by reading the flux field voltage converts that to an amp reading without touching the wire ( used by electricians to check current draw in electrical motors etc )

Hi how to convert to kilowatt hour using this meter? Do we really need to multiply by 20

Yes, you do have do multiply, but not the number on the dial itself. This is a commercial or heavy residential use meter. They are geared so that each kilowatt hour measured by the dial is actually 20 kilowatt hours. This is done since some users use so much power that the meter could actually roll over during a normal billing cycle using a regular meter. So, if you are reading this meter to determine how many kilowatt hours you have used since the last reading, you simply read the meter as you would any normal meter to get the number displayed. Your photo reads 13525. That is your current meter value. If you last bill stated the meter value was 13501, that would indicate that you used 24 (13525-13501) times 20 or 480 kilowatt hours since the last bill.

Hope this helps!

2002 Town and Country. Why does it have a rough idle, dies when stopping, has sluggish power, and sounds terrible?

Suspect throttle positioning sensor (TPS)...can be tested...need a meter set to read 5 volts DC...Tps is located on throttle body...it has a three wire connector with wire colors: Brown/Orange...Dark Blue/Dark Green...And Pink/Yellow...Engine off...Push points of safety pins deep into into rear of in place connector PLUS METER LEAD on Brown/Orange wire and NEGATIVE METER LEAD into DarkBlue/DarkGreen...Set meter to read 5 volts...Start engine...At idle (Yes, I know it is running rough) then read meter...RECORD READING...Next rev engine to full throttle...RECORD READING...First reading must be .08 volts...Second must be 4.5 volts...If second reading is less than 3 volts...example 2.4volts TPS is culprit...Replace TPS...all readings OK? Let me know...saailer

I have a mastercraft multimeter, it reads volts but wont read milliamps. Checked the fuse, it's good. what else could be the problem? There is only one fuse on the inside, does it protect both volt...

Tom,
Do you get any readings from the meter when attempting to read amps? Are you connecting the meter properly? Some people assume that you touch the test points the same as a voltage reading but that of course is not correct to read amps. You must use the meter to bridge the connection so that the current flows through the meter, otherwise you will get a zero reading.

Chevy silverado ecm

There are OBD 1 meters and OBD 2 meters that read codes, if your car is OBD2 you need an OBD2 meter to read the codes.

Range controlpad is no working, is showing SA6& each burnershows 56 orS6

Hi and
SA (burners off) is a door lock switch A problem. The switch has to be checked for 0 resistance across the terminals. If it has resistance then there is another resitance check to look ofr 2350 Ohms between pin 5 in plug P4 and terminal N. If the meter reads zero or infinity the lock motor or the wiring to the lock motor is defective. If the meter reads 2350 Ohms replace the electronic oven control.

This is per page 97 of the service manual: (C/P)

http://frigidaireservicetips.com/pdfs/477_5.pdf

Remove power from the range and go to the back of

the control and disconnect the P3 plug. Measure

the resistance between pins 3 and 4. If the meter

reads infinity check the oven door switch and the

wiring to the door switch. If the meter reads zero go

to step 2.

2. Measure the resistance between pins 1 and 3 of

plug P3. If the meter reads infinity switch A of the

lock motor assembly or the wiring to switch A is

defective. If the meter reads zero go to step 3.

3. Measure the resistance between pin 5 in plug P4

and terminal N. If the meter reads zero or infinity

the lock motor or the wiring to the lock motor is

defective. If the meter reads 2350 Ohms replace
the electronic oven control.
