I recently upgraded my win OS. Before the upgrade I backed up accessmanager.xdb in order not to lose my passwords. Then I downloaded the freeware version 2.2.63 of the software, set up the same master password as previously, but cannot access my passwords. When I replace accessmanager.xdb file with the one I backed up, I get a 'open file' error message (this method used to work in previous upgrades). Any ideas how I can retrieve my passwords with this version of the software?

it sounds as if you the system as you say has failed, you can use a friends copy of XP but use your product key number on the underside of your laptop. Secondly, the vista CD may be an upgrade cd but you will probably find that it will do a complete install as they are normally the same cd, just set your cd drive as first boot device and then run the cd,select new installation and not upgrade; i have an upgrade Vista cd but installed a full operating system on another partition, therefore it wasnt an upgrade but it still worked.

you need to import your company file into Quickbooks 2006 first, then from there into 2008.

SOURCE: Uninstall WIN XP PRO UPGRADE
Unfortunately you cannot "Uninstall an Upgrade" - Do you refer "Upgrade to SP2/ SP3 or WIN98 or WIN2000 to WIN XP? Please clarify? Regardless - you will have to reformat your PC and purchase a new license key as you have used the one on another PC or you should void the license on that PC and use it on the original PC.
In short unless you do not use the license key or purchase a new one, your PC will not log-in after 30 days and you will then have to activate again using telephonic assitance (if you modem and internet connection were no configured before the end of you activation period. There is now Un-install function. Sorry.
SOURCE: Error 1317 when trying to open Word docs in MS Office Pro 2007
Many instances of error 1317 relate to incorrect or insufficient permissions. If you are operating as an administrator on your system, regardless of operating system, this obviously should not be an issue. (FYI - a selected reference would be at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306986).
In other cases, this particular error message indicates that the underlying file is corrupted. Further, as there is often a conflict between Outlook 2007 and Word 2007, particularly if Word is acting as the default email editor, would suggest making sure that Outlook 2007 is closed.
If you feel certain neither of these issues is the root cause, I would suggest defragmenting the hard drive, and then running a chkdisk with repair. If this is unresolved and you need further assistance, please check your Event Viewer for particular messages at the time you received the error, and post those back, along with the operating system you are running and your user permission level.
If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!
