  • Roy Clayton Jan 18, 2013

Thanks again Max. No, it is not working. It recognises something has been connected and even comes up with it;s name but it tries to install the appropriate driver but FAILS every time. The USB ports are unusable.

I have been reading some forums, the USB issue seems widespread. Try this FIX IT from MS : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windo... OR :http://www.drivertoshiba.com/satellite-p... Take a look at the Toshiba Forum :http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.c...

Try a system restore to a date before the issue. The drivers can be found here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK

    Trying that now. Thanks Max.

  • Roy Clayton Jan 17, 2013

No joy. I took it back to restore point prior to the last update concerning the usb ports

  • Roy Clayton Jan 17, 2013

Having done system restore it now recognises when usb memory is put in it, even recognising it's name but it install the driver.

That's what it's suppose to do. When you add USB devices your software will ID the hadrware and apply the correct driver. So it's working properly?

The usb cable on my ps3 is not working will not play on any tv in house it plays with hdmi cables

Playstation 3's will not output display information via usb, it does although have a traditional Playstation style connector port for displaying via component cable/ AV cable. To switch to this display setting without having access to an HDMI television press and hold the power button until the PS3 beeps for a second time. Pressing once it will beep but continue holding until the device beeps again and it will boot into a display "safe mode" and ask you to verify your display settings.

Keyboard will not work

Try another USB port. Sometimes, the port is associated with a device. Or, maybe the problem is that the keyboard itself is not working at all. In that case, the PC makes beeps on booting.

Dell Precision T1500 beeping 6 times and will not boot up.

Remove whatever USB cables in the front USB ports below the DVD. Then try starting it should work. If not remove USB from the rear one at a time. Once it restarts replace USB cables into ports.

I WANT TO MAKE MY PEN DRIVE AS BOOTABLE PENDRIVE FOR WINDOWS XP

The USB port on most computers is not a bootable USB port. Only after Windows has started up. the USB device driver is running then the USB port will work
UNLESS
Some later model computers/laptop have a bootable USB port and you can change the boot order in the BIOS configuration and change the devices boot order to make the USB port the first boot device.

Have a Intell D865PERL getting either 6 or 7 beeps when booting, can't be sure which. System will not boot but just beep with PS2 keyboard installed but will boot with keyboard removed. BIOS is version...

It's likely a bad keyboard- try using either an usb keyboard or another ps2 keyboard- if it works and boots normally with a different keyboard, the issue was the bad keyboard. If not, then the ps2 port has gone bad. (you could still use usb)

Intel d 865 gsa mother board is working but not display no beep what is the problem

i thinks it's not working, check again.....
no display, no beep.....simple symptom of a dead MB

the quality of the MB is all components will work together, even if one component in it fails the MB is dead.....

this rule is not applicable to the following devices in the MB
inbuilt sound cards, or
either of the USB ports or
mouse port, keyboard port

As you can use an external device like a USB sound adaptor insted of the internal sound card for your speaker/sound.
The same goes for mouse and keyboard, you can buy keyboards/mouse that work thru USB
The same is of a USB port, if one of the USB ports fail you have the other ports to use, if all of the USB ports fail then you can use a external USB connector to a LAN port and make the LAN port a USB device.

also.....there is no option..... that you can change one of the components.....they all are embeded in the circuit board, it's cost effective to get a new MB than repair the defective component.....

all the best

Keyboard not responding at startup

Do you mean when it's initially starting up: before the POST beep, or do you mean after it boots into the operating system? Either way I would try to switch it to a different USB port before or during start-up. It could be that the USB port has gone bad, or for some reason there's a glitch and the keyboard and port aren't syncing up correctly right away.

Key board port is not working

Try another keyboard if at all possible. Port sill not working?
You can bypass the PS2 port for your key board. You'll need to buy a PS2 to USB Y cable. Places like Best Buy have them. Here is a picture of the cable;

On booting up, computer can not load keyboard system.

One possible problem is that your PS2 keyboard port at the back of your PC is ruined. In time, those so called "outlets" become loose specially the ones with cables which usually got pulled or tangled and make the port strained and the contacts get loose.
If that is the case, you might need to replace the keyboard port, or just stick with your usb keyboard.
