SOURCE: Staples SPL -TXC15A Shredder on all the time

This is what worked for me.
1) unplug the shredder
2) put the selector in "auto" position. This pulls back the guard which blocks the paper and hids the sensor.
3) a little right of the center of the paper slot is the sensor. You can feel this by inserting a cotton swab in ths slot.
4) put some alcohol on the cotton swab and clean the sensor!!!!

Also the "bin full" sensors are under the shretter head. You can easily see those when you remove the head from the bin by flipping it over. I would advise cleaning those while you are at it. Mine were covered with dirt and dust.

Hope this helps!!

Red light on will not run in forward

Check to make sure the shredder is sitting on the paper bin properly. Most shredders have a sensor switch that disables the unit if it's not properly seated on the paper bin.
