How do I insert a compact flash card in the large slot on the right hand side the manual doesn't help or is the slot for something else there is a smaller slot below for an sd car.

Your computer doesn't support compact flash cards. Your SD slot is a 5-in-1 card reader, supporting Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick® (MS), Memory Stick PRO? (MS PRO), xD-Picture Card? (xD). The big slot is for PCMCIA devices.
