Question about Canon VC-C4 Network Camera
I am attempting to connect a canon VC-C4 webcam to my laptop. It connects through RS232 and I have connected it to the COM port on the back of my laptop. When i boot the control software it gives an error saying CoM1 open error. Can you help me solve this? Should there be a driver that I have to download? I am clueless...
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Canon VC-C4 vs Logitech webcam
DO you realize that this camera cost around 900 US$? - Might be a little overkill for VOIP.
Apart form that it is an excellent camera. Have look at the manual here.
The camera connects via RS232 (9DSub) or 8pin DSub and you can/have to download the software form Canon's web page.

The VC-C4 uses a Canon WL-V5 remote control, available at B&H Photo here. They also have a power supply for the VC-C50 here. The VC-C50 is almost identical in specification to the VC-C4, it's just a newer model. The electrical power requirements are the same.
